Video and music out of sync

fhoss

Question

Using Videowave I have made a movie that containes both photos and video along with a lot of audio.

In the first scene a person is singing a song. I muted the native singing and put the same song from a CD on an audio line so as to syncranize the two

In Videowave this worked well so I sent the project to MyDVD to burn the movie.

In MyDVD, after making the changes I wanted in the menu, I previewed the project and again the music and the video was in sync.

I then burned the project as an .iso file as I have done many times. [i even burned it to disc to see if it would make any difference]

However, when I play the .iso file and/or copy it to a disc the video and the music is 1/2 second or more out of sync which would not make much difference as to the balance of the movie but does in this first scene because of the lip syncing

Any suggestions

Frank

An expert in these forums has recommended the following (in addition to using the .iso method you are already doing):

Update the audio card drivers from the manufacturer's web site. While you are there, see if there is an update for the video card/chip.

Before you do any video work, check your hard drive for viruses and malware and defrag your hard drive. You will need a lot of free space on the drive. Do not work from a USB connected hard drive.

When you do any video work, disconnect from the internet, shut down your anti-virus and all other running programs.

Let us know if any of this helps....

Thanks for your response.

Windows tells me that all three of my hard drives [one internal and two external] are defragged every Wednesday morning at about 5 a.m. I have been relying on this being sufficient.

I did find the NVIDIA site and asked it to do an automatic research of my system [it was one of the options available] and it said my drivers were up to date. I do not know if that included my audio driver. My computer skills are not that great.

I store my home made movies on an external drive which is hooked to my computer by a USB cable. I have been putting my movies [burned as .iso files] on that drive for a few years now without incident.

I have done nothing since my last succesful burn of a movie [in May] to alter my system except change the windows color scheme to "High Contrast #1" [easier for my old eyes to read the text] so I did not try anything else that was suggested. [i don't know if that change would have any impact.]

What I did do was:

1) Go back into Videowave - made a copy of my project so I could experiment.

2) I nudged the song in the direction needed to marry it with the video [in my case a bit to the left]. It was just a guess as to how much. I also extended the selection a bit so as to avoid a gap at the other end.

3) This resulted in my previews in both Videowave and MyDVD being slightly out sync.

4) Nonetheless, I forged ahead and burned the project [the same way - to .iso] and I was very satisfied with the result. I had guessed just right.

5) Admittedly, this was somewhat costly in time as I had to burn the project to see if I was successful with my nudging.

Thanks for your help. While I have not posted anything on the forum in some time I do check in frequently to see what's up. I am very appreciative of the information you gurus provide.

PC with Windows 7 and EMC 10, same as fhoss with the driver update, antivirus, etc..

Same issue, the MP3 file is out of sync and I don't have time to "play" with the song position to find the right adjustment; I already throw away 4 DVD's and this morning my son went to school with his video project out of sync!

This is definitely a BUG from EMC10. What is the fix? :angry2:

Thanks

You DO know that EMC 10 is not and never will be compatible with Windows 7?

The only program that is compatible is Creator 2010

No I didn't and I did not receive any error message or other info when I installed EMC10! This being said, thanks for your prompt answer, I will have now to make a decision regarding my next video editor investment.

Thanks again
