Got it, may take until Monday to try and fix, we'll update builds as quick as possible. To early to tell what the issue is yet, it's been running fine on our systems here for a few weeks now with 10.6. It would be great to here other experiences with the download if anyone has a chance. TV shows which are recorded in TiVo suggestions do not appear in the list of shows. That might be the same as the 10.02 release and I never noticed, though. I thought I had fixed the problem with TiVo Transfer when I deleted com.tivo.desktop.plist. After deletion of this preference, I restarted TiVo Transfer, re-entered my MAK and all my programs showed up...YES!!! But, after I transferred a show to my Mac, the next time I launched TiVo Transfer, all it does is beach ball. Once again, deleted the .plist file, re-entered my MAK and voila. Sorry for misleading you a bit. When you're in a debugging/testing situation it's always best to keep the original files or materials somewhere so that if the change doesn't work you can go back to the previous scenario. And in this case an earlier poster suggested that if you remove the properties list (the plist file) and and then it works correctly he might want to examine the old properties list file to see what kept it from working in the first place. Bruce Fuchs Posted August 30, 2009 Report Share Posted August 30, 2009 New bug to report for Tivo Transfer BETA My experience is similar to those above. 1) Deleting plist file restores ability to see Tivo and transfer shows to the Mac 2) Transferred shows will not "play" from inside Tivo Transfer 3) Same show will play just fine in Toast Video Player from inside Toast 9 (Oops! Just noticed that I am in a Toast 10 forum) 4) I see the whole show, not just the first 29 minutes as some have reported. 5) The new bug is that if I change the location of the Tivo Recordings from its default location to the second internal drive that I always use to store shows, Tivo Transfer BETA will hang until I do a Force Quit. So I deleted the preference file listed above and then it did open. I tried transferring an hour long show twice and it would only transfer 29 minutes of it. crash log in pm please if you wouldn't mind. I'm traveling Saturday but I'll be around Sunday to catch up. Can you try backing up and then deleting the file com.tivo.desktop.plist in USER/Library/Preferences, then try to launch TiVo Transfer? Could be it was moved to incompatible programs (the Snow leopard install mentions this location) but I haven't found that yet :-(. So now I am transferring programs again, but not playing them yet. (Updated) To fix the video player issue, open Toast and enable the Toast Video Player again from the Extras menu (it went away when the properties list was removed, duh...). Then secondary click on a .TiVo file and use Open With... to select the video player. When I tried to make this the default application again for .TiVo files using secondary-click -> Open With -> Other the Toast Video Player was not available. However, if you secondary click a .TiVo file, then choose Get Info, you can select the video player as the default application for all such files, and that seems to work. I have noticed one small bug with this combination too: the video player when invoked this way does not release the file completely after you stop playing it, with the result being that moving the .TiVo file for another file system or the trash after you have played it yields a file is busy message. Haven't cleared that part up yet. For the rest of us, deleting the plist (move or rename it, don't actually delete it in case patatrox wants to see it!) seems to make the TivoTransferBETA.app run under Snow Leopard. Upgraded to Snow Leopard on my Macbook Pro this afternoon, and downloaded and installed the TivoTransfer BETA (version available on Aug 28). My auto transfers are visible, and system finds and attempts to transfer a few programs. However, it only transfers is the first 1.7 megabytes of each show, then moves on to the next one. The auto-transfer spinner frequently stops moving for several minutes. The name of the TiVo is listed but the list of shows is blank. Just noticed something else. the list of shows (or the number displayed at the bottom of the DVR page) has stopped at 128 shows, 159.5 GB. This TiVo HD has an outboard USB drive and usually has more than 400 shows and about 500GB of data on it. What more do you need from brave beta testers like us? Apparently TivoTransfer used this framework. Unfortunately that means it will have to be rewritten for Snow Leopard (either as a straight Java application, or in Objective-C). Bummer. "Luckily" my desktop machine is a PowerPC, so I won't be updating it to Snow Leopard. Others may want to look around for open-source programs that perform this function (I think pyTivo, for example, will do this, if inelegantly). Maybe someone in the developer community will step up... On the flip side, Roxio may have been aware of this and already written a fully Cocoa version. Tivo Transfer 1.2.2(058) opens "downloaded from internet" warning as usual. When I click Open, icon bounces a few more times in the dock, then just stops. Rosetta was installed. However, I did find an "Open using Rosetta" checkbox on Tivo Transfers Get Info. Checked the box and Tivo Transfer launches now, but doesn't see my Tivo box. I reentered the Media Access Key and it still doesn't see it. Tried the same thing with Tivo Transfer 1.1.1(049) from Toast 8 and it does the same. Help. Also, my old Auto Transfers show in the list, and it also shows my Tivo name under Source: at the top. No files show in the Tivo Recordings list, even though the correct folder shows in the prefs and I also re-selected the folder, but nothing. Tivo Desktop 1.9.3(008) doesn't work either. If I click the start button, it tries for a second and then switched back to Tivo Desktop Off. Mac2Tivo works. Are you using a RTM or pirated copy? If you have particular issues after tomorrow, please post them rather than make a blanket statement. What kind of error messages are you getting? What kind of issues do you have with the transfer. Toast 10 works with 10.5. For some people it should work with Snow Leopard just like the PC products work for some people with Windows 7. I have tried every other method including using my web browser to download from my tivo without any luck.
