I'm trying to see if anybody knows about, or had a similar problem that I had last Friday with Nero Photoshow Deluxe 5. I went into my NERO photoshow deluxe 5 from my desktop icon, and could not get any access. Nero says they no longer support Nero 5 photoshow.(it is not an internet based program) I've tried to contact Nero, however they are not to quick getting back to me. They keep saying "go into nero 5 and copy your files and put them BLAH BLAH BLAH....I tell them I cant get into the Nero photoshow to even try to do copies or view any files.

I downloaded and pd for NERO 9 thinking this may take care of the problem....no such luck. Nero has guided me to Roxio and said go into nero 5 and send to Roxio. Again I cant open NERO. My question is, "if I download Roxio premium, and pay Roxio's fee, will I have access to the shows and pictures I had in Nero? The photoshows look identical. There were several shows I was working on....that I have either lost or don't know how to retrieve. What gets me is the original NERO photoshow deluxe 5 came with NERO 8, and was not an internet based program. If its a desktop program why cant I access it? Did Roxio buy the rights to Nero photoshow? Are the nero photoshow files still available? Lots of questions....no answers as of yet

Did you even read the link that sknis posted in your other post? That explains what to do since Nero no longer has anything to do with PhotoShow.

Same thing happened to me. I had made a new large photoshow using my purchased home software NERO photoshow v5. I was trying to finalize the photoshow I had spent hours working on. NERO kept shutting down due to unexpected error. Finally somehow I ended up connected to the ROXIO website which said NERO no longer works and I had to upgrade & pay $29.99 to get premium account and access to my photoshows. I did this but lost my unfinalized photoshow...pain in the ,,,,, since there was no upfront warning and no email saying this was going to happen to NERO customers. Anyways had to redo entire photoshow. Was able to burn one DVD and no others until I downloaded version 6. Burnt 2 photoshows and now cannot burn another one. Came to realize NERO and ROXIO were generating files hidden by Vista and had devoured 30GB on memory on my laptop. After finally finding these files on our own since tech support had no idea of what I was talking about I deleted the 75,000 files and recovered 30GB of memory but now cannot burn a DVD. WHY NOT????

Nothing works easily and I hate the day I met NERO photoshow.......and so does my laptops memory.

Anyone else out there experienced this??????

I thought I'd let you know what I did since I didn't get much help from the "gurus" above...seemed like all they could do was answer a question with a question.. I too downloaded Roxio at $29.99 and noticed the show is identical to Nero. I also downloaded Nero 9 thinking the photo show would also be upgraded....no such luck! In the meantime I contacted Nero and asked if the Nero photoshow 5 was related to the Roxio photoshow, since they were identical. The answer was NO...they are 2 different shows, even though they are identical in what they do, how they act etc.etc. I then asked how I would retrieve all my stuff in Nero, and they said I had to contact Nero. After contacting Nero(customer service thru email...(approx 2 weeks), they informed me that if I had not deleted the Nero program, I should be able to retrieve all the Nero 5 stuff. I said I have no access to the Nero program, and they sent me a KEY #(after approx 3 weeks, and, after I purchased Roxio) to enter in the start up page....which, after I did the program started and all the shows and pictures were there just as I had before. I then asked Nero "so now I have 2 totally seperate programs(photoshows) to do the same thing", and their answer was yes. They both seem to work fine by the way. The difference is the Nero 5 Photoshow came with Nero 8 and is a stand alone program, and the Roxio is an Internet based photoshow that has some restrictions, and has an annual fee to keep the photoshow active. BUT.......

My only problem now is when I shut down the computer, then start up the next day, I don't have access to either program. I have to enter my KEY #(2 seperate key numbers) for which photoshow I want to start and use. One of them...Nero or Roxio, mentioned it must be my "registry cleaner" that is wiping away the number when I shut down. I haven't been able to find the cleaner to say "DO NOT Clean The Registry When I Shut Down....I don't know if there is such an animal...I'm still looking. ...probably somewhere in my anti virus. I'm afraid to put up another post to this forum for such a simple question.....I'd probably get additional question comments like the ones above.... from the "GURUS".

Now be honest. Read your first post in this thread and tell us how that described your problem.

Was your first post on a Nero users group forum where you described your problem? Did you try to contact Nero before you posted here? Nero was your issue; not Roxio and not the Gurus. Note gurus do not work for Roxio; they are here to try to help.

Typically an Anti-virus will not clean your registry unless you tell it to. What anti-virus do you have? Personally I don't think that a registry cleaner is your problem.

My initial post is from the 4.5.1 post. (Put post for this under "NERO photoshow deluxe 4.5.1." (3rd post) ) The original post is below.

A simple yes or no would have been sufficient.

I too am out of the loop. I went to use my Nero photoshow deluxe 5 last week and could not get any access. The photoshow came with NERO 8. I thought I could take care of it by downloading NERO 9, but that was not the answer. I have no access to any of my shows I have done in photoshow deluxe 5. NERO say they no longer support the photoshow. I don't understand why I can't get into the program....I was not using a internet connection to gain access. Anyway...I have been directed to Roxio photoshow....which looks very similar to the NERO photoshow. This is an internet based program, and again it is asking to "upgrade" for a set fee. Before I pay for and download another program I have a few questions before I pay my money.

1) Is the Roxio show the same(type) photoshow as the NERO deluxe 5 show, and if I download it, will I have access to all the shows and pictures I put into NERO photoshow. I understand it is an internet based program with an annual fee.

2) Will the shows I was working on (not completed) still be there?

If there is any way somebody could reply to this post, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks ROK

When I received the 2 replies, one of funny faces and another that wanted to know if I could read, I didn't feel that the forum was a place to get answers. Now with over 550 views to this question....I feel I'm not the only one that had this problem.

Please explain what you mean in what I bolded. What do you mean by "Put this post..." Read this to a friend and see if he/she can make anything out of it -- without you going into detail.

If you wanted to add the post to an earlier thread, you have to do it yourself or create a link to it. The post/thread ID is in your browser ID window. . Remember this is not a bulletin board; it is a users group that is here to help but not to tidy up your files.

If you can find the earlier post, did you get any useful replies there?

My original post for the problem I had, when I searched for a topic that might help...led me to the already posted thread/post of the "4.5.1" link referencing the "nero photoshow 4.5.1 deluxe". Currently it is the post that is approx. 11 posts down, under forum topics...it has a large blue question mark on the left side. In it, the post had the only reference to the NERO photoshow. I posted the above question in this thread(4.5.1 nero photoshow deluxe). It is still the same....my post plus 2 others. Since I didn't really see any answer to this post, I started a new post "nero photoshow 5 Deluxe". I started the post with where my question was located, just to see if I would get any response to my question (posted in the "4.5.1 thread"). I assumed that any response to the "Nero 5 deluxe" post had read my initial question, in the 4.5.1 thread. Anyway...apparently, that did not happen.

To answer your question about useful replies to the earlier post...it is, no. You can see for yourself by going to that 4.5.1 post/thread. Since I didn't get any answers I tried to contact Nero, and Roxio, but that was all done by email, wait several days for a reply, and go from there. I thought the forum would give me a quicker answer to my question. Anyway,....I now have nero 9, for $50.00 upgrade, a new Roxio photoshow for $30.00, and, a "found" Nero photoshow 5 deluxe (after 3-4 wks of contact with Nero. Both the Roxio, and the Nero photoshow 5 are working the way the Nero 5 Deluxe photoshow was intended to work(they seem identical...except one is stand alone(Nero), and Roxio is internet based, with a yearly fee required to maintain the use of the program. As stated above, my only problem now is I have to enter the registry key every time I want to use either program...I'm working on this.

Anyway....Thank you for your response. I'm sorry about all the confusion I've created.....I guess that's what happens when you start to ASSUME.

I'm still wondering about the 600 views to this thread.

.......I'm still wondering about the 600 views to this thread.

The "Views" count on a topic are pretty meaningless actually. It counts each time anyone (registered user or even a "Guest" just browsing the forums) accesses the topic. So for example, every time you clicked on the topic, whether you posted or not, it counts as a view. Or, if like me (and many of the regulars here), one looks at new posts to see if there is anything they can contribute to the discussion, are just wanting to keep up on any ideas or remedies that might be posted, or just curious about a topic, each of those count also. Since there's no way to know how many people are looking at the topic because they have an issue also (or how many times the same person views a topic), it's pretty much an irrelevant piece of information about a given topic/posts.

Hi ROK:

I have experienced recently what you are asking about....

1) As far as I am concerned ROXIO v5 is the same program as NERO deluxe v5 which was a stand alone program. However whenever I tried to use it the NERO program it gave me an error message and shut itself down leaving me no other option than to purchase the 29.99 upgrade to ROXIO v 5. I have also downloaded ROXIO v6 to help with DVD burning. In ROXIO v6 there is a menu maybe called FILE IMPORT photoshows. I open ROXIO v5 which lists all of my old completed NERO photoshows. Then from ROXIO v6 I import the photoshows that I want to burn using v6. Do not re-edit in v6 or everything you generated in v5 will be changed.

2) Unfortunately I was at the end of making a new photoshow using NERO v5 and was ready to finalize the show. Maybe it needed music from the Internet, I do not know, but I could not finalize the photoshow. This is how I found out I had to purchase the premium account with ROXIO. AND THE KICKER WAS THAT MY PHOTOSHOW IN PROGRESS WAS COMPLETELY LOST AND UNRETRIEVABLE. SO I HAD TO START ALL OVER AGAIN USING ROXIO. Any photoshows previously completed however can be retrieved in ROXIO. So now I am trying to burn all of my old photoshows since I do not want to be stuck paying an annual fee forever to have access to my old photoshows.

HAVE YOU EXPERIENCED THE LOSS OF GB MEMORY STORAGE WITH THE BURNING OF DVD'S USING THE OLD NERO PROGRAM?

As of yet I have not tried to burn a DVD in the old Nero program. I'm starting a new show in it, and we'll see what happens. So far everything is the same as the old way of doing things, except the music, but since I use my own, I have already used a song and that also seems the same.....I do not have internet accessibility, but I don't need it. I'm using Nero because the Roxio is restricted to 400 pictures, and this new show will be close to that figure. The old Nero program said the pictures were unlimited...it was only limited to the space you could put on a CD or DVD. ......SO....will I experience a loss of GB memory storage after burning a dvd? Did this happen to you? Sounds like the same thing happened to CSJ?(above post)

If I may make a suggestion. Look at the Roxio MyDVD 10 or the new Creator 2010. You sound sophisticated enough that you probably won't use pop up balloons and funny things running across the screens. It seems like you have have graduated to something with more options and abilities.

Those program will allow you to make slide shows with images, videos, and your own music (not Itunes) and burn them to DVDs or upload them to YouTube and other sharing sites. No limit on the number of photos or music, PIP type overlays, etc.

I don't know about the Nero output but if you can output the slide shows to a video file (mpg2, mp4, wmv) you can import them into either of the products and then edit, burn or upload. You will be editing a video file so it would be more difficult to add individual images but it is possible.

Prices are more than the web based programs initially but will quickly pay for themselves. If you one of them directly from Roxio, you have a 30 day money back guarantee if you don't like it or your computer can't handle it. MyDVD 10 does only slide shows and videos; Creator 2010 does what MyDVD does, music and more.
