patatrox
It copied without any problems. Are there other entries in the registy that should be deleted that do not contain the string "Roxio"? The only ones relating to that message are in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Software/Roxio, and specifically the Certificates7 key I was referring to. During the install that registry key gets created and has a value pointing to a location on the hard drive. It may possibly be a registry permission issue, can you try creating a new user account on the machine, logging in as that user and try to install? If that doesn't work post back and I'll get in touch with you...

legsandco
I have just deleted everything from my registry with a string ending 795D1BD58B2, rebooted my computer and EMC7 installed without a hitch. It was only a guess but it worked. Thank you for time and patience. legsandco
I deleted the strings by: Start Run regedit go to edit menu and search for 795D1BD58B2 I then deleted all eventualities of this string Use F3 to find next This worked for me but I can not guarantee that it will work for you. Guest mlpasley
Thanks, I'll give it a try. BACK UP THAT REGISTRY BEFORE YOU MAKE ANY CHANGES! Do a File\ Export in case the changes don't work.
legsandco
Try searching your registry for "Videowave" and look for a long alphanumeric string and note the last 9 or 10 digits. Do a fresh search using these digits to see if they only appear with roxio programs. If they do, delete all entries found. ONLY AFTER backing up your registry. Have you tried Roxio Technical Support? patatrox
I get "Could not open certificate reading DLL" every time I try to reinstall EMC7. Please tell me how to fix this problam as I am going insane. Assuming it was installed at one point lets start here: 1) Launch the registry editor by going to START --> RUN --> REGEDIT 2) Navigate to HKLM/Software/Roxio 3) Look for a key called 'certificates7' and delete this key (ONLY IF YOU'VE UNINSTALLED ALL EMC 7 FAMILY PRODUCTS) 4) Now close the registry editor and try to reinstall EMC

I tried to unistall it via control panel but this failed. I deleted it maually and scrubbed the registry.

Then the next most likely cause (since there is no registry setting pointing to an incorrect location) is a problem reading the CD. (assuming you're installing from CD) To test this, copy the contents of the program CD and the content CD to a single folder on your hard drive and run setup from that folder after removing the CDs from the drive. Unfortunately that did not work either. Three error messages. 1. Unable to find a certificate File 2. Could not open the Certificate Reading DLL 3. There was a problem authinticating your version. Please make sure your system is set to the current date.
