Error Codes while trying to burn in My DVD

sna269

Question

I recently downloaded 2010 and have since had to do clean install twice. Every time i try to burn a video wave production, I receive error codes while encoding.

Example error codes are:

80040154

80004005

8007045a

8004520c

Just to name a few. I have done everything to try and correct this but can't. PLEASE help.

Thanks

List your system specs, especially video card. What kind of VW production are you trying to burn? Slideshow, video? Does the burn stop when you get the error message? How long in time is the production? Have you tried to render in VW to DVD mpeg, best quality? If it crashes there then VW doesn't like something in your project. If it renders properly then its something in the burn process.

Hello, I have been having the same issues attempting to burn DVDs from video files on hard disk. All the same error codes - specially 8004520c and 8007000e - typically occuring during the encoding process. I too have tried all suggested corrective actions.

New PC - DELL Studio XPS 9000/9 GB RAM/ Core i7 @ 260 Ghz; nVidia GTX260 video card; Win-7 64 bit.

I have tried all options: burn to disk / burn ISO image / burn to Video_TS folder.

Interesting: during the encoding process - the 'Burn' window has a small sub-window where you can see your video file playing. This starts off OK for a few seconds, then goes white. I completed the process inspite of this, and even burnt a DVD - it plays back with no video, only audio!!

Thanks for any help! This is getting quite frustrating considering I invested in a high end PC to complete my video editing projects! Thanks!

I'm sure you have read this ; with a new computer, that shouldn't be the issue.

Have you tried to encode the project via Edit Video -Advanced (Video Wave)? What is the format of the video file?

Load the video file into Video Wave and select output icon just above the preview window. Select all and the "mpg2 for DVD best quality". If the encoding hangs, then there is something wrong with the video. If it completes, then open Create DVD. Select you menu and then add the mpg file.

I have a pretty good computer also and I sometimes have problems with certain formats (no one else does). I also make sure that my anti-virus is set to not check everything being burned to the hard drive and do nothing else when encoding (not even e-mail).

There have been other threads about those errors, have you look at some of those? Some of them are related to the video card/chip on Dell computers. Have you updated the drivers for what you have?

Edit: It looks like part of the Dell site for driver downloads is down at the monent. Try later or go to the nvidia site if that is a desktop. I think this is the newest driver for your video card but double check and follow instructions; it is from July. Drivers are updated frequently so even if it is a new computer, updating drivers is something you should do when you get a new computer and frequently after that.

Thanks guys!

Yes I do have a BD player - and since my PC upgrade I shall definitely investigate HD - as I do have HD sources at my disposal.

Re ROXIO Creator - I still think this program can be a tad unsteady - while attempting to edit video, I do find it best to have your source files on the main HDD on the system, rather than on a USB cabled external drive. The editor in Creator kept shutting down attempting to pull files off of the external HDD - at least I think that was the problem. Moving all these files to the main HDD seems to have solved this issue.

I "trialled" Corel's DVD PRO s/ware - that appeared to work much better even on my older PC. What is your general experience with Creator 2010 PRO?

Hello! I did exactly what you recommended - and guess what? IT WORKED!! I have a burnt DVD now - I shall test it on the home theater system shortly - but your advise was spot on. I had already updated all the drivers on my new PC - I actually did this as soon as I first set it up - which is what I usually do. All video drivers were updated too. Also updated my installation of Roxio Creater 2010 Pro.

Created an mpg file as you suggested - very quick on my new PC - it took just 20 mins or so to render a 1-hour long video into mpg. Having gone this far, I shall also attempt some other formats, such as HD.

Then used myDVD to create a menu and burn to disk - worked like a charm!

THANKS SO MUCH!!

Incidentally, as you did ask> the raw video files I used in 'Advance Edit' were downloads from a CANON Vixia HD digicam, as well as some HD video off of my Canon 7D DSLR. The video quality of the Canon 7D DSLR is phenomenal! Really crist detailed images.

Thanks once again - you were a SUPER help! :)

Great.

Do you have a blu-ray player that will play AVCHD discs? An AVCHD disc is a high definition DVD burned to a standard DVD using a standard DVD burner. They must be played on a Blu-ray player that will play that type of disc. You can get about 40 minutes of HD video on a disc. There is a tremendous difference between a standard DVD and an AVCHD.

If you tinker a little you can get quite a bit of AVCHD onto a DVD:

AVCHD on a 4.7 GB DVD: (thanks to ggrussell)

  • HQ – 00:40:24 @ 1920 X 1080P = 40 min
  • SP – 00:50:16 @ 1920 X 1080I = 46 min
  • LP – 1:00:00 @ 1440 X 1080I = 54 min
  • EP – 1:24:31 1280 X 720P = 1:14 min

AVCHD on 8.5 GB DVD:

  • HQ – 1:13
  • SP – 1:24
  • LP – 1:39
  • EP – 2:15

Even LP or EP in HD is worlds better than the best DVD ;)

But like Steve said, you must have a BD Player to view it.
