Photosuite Crashes/Slideshow

Majeskty

Question

I purchased Creator 2010 Pro hoping it would solve a problem that occurred with 2009 Ulitmate. When I went to create a slideshow of pictures from my son's baseball games the module would crash. I had hoped that the latest version 2010 would have a fix but NO it still does not work. I had hours and hours (6 weeks) of tech support by email to fix the problem with 2009 and was even at the highest level of support and they did not have a solution. Other parts of the Photosuite also do not work but crashes when launched. Only a few features under Photo actually work. As of this time other features of Creator 2010 Pro seem to be working from my testing. Only be installed for 4 hours at the moment.

I have sent tech support another support request on this version but I do not have much faith that even this time a fix will be supplied. So I may need to start looking for another program that works. This email support is getting tiring by itself to find a fix.

Buying new software is a variation on the old Let’s throw money at it fix

So far all you have said in you have a GM car and it won’t work… going to need a few more details.

Actually let’s see if we can make it faster than trying to dig out details.

EZ Test – Open VideoWave (Edit Video – Advanced) add ½ the photos.

Does it break?

If yes – do it again and add 1 photo.

Jim,

Each year you expect GM to fix issue's with past years models to address the consumer's complaints and improve the product. When they don't you wonder do they give a damm if they still have the same problem. Quess what GM needed a bailout! I have had Easy Creator for years but the last couple versions have had problems which don't seem to get addressed by the programmers and management.

In 2009 they had me nuermous times uninstall, find my drives again, then reinstall. Well lets do it with all the background programs disabled, msconfig>disable startups etc>restart>reinstall>does it work>no>do this>still does not solve the problem. It is not like I am not troubleshooting from my side of the computer.

Now for your EZ Test-

Edit Video/Advance- fails to launch, there is a a runtime error R6025- pure virtual function call. So since it crashed I can not attempt the troubleshooting suggestion. Like I mentioned most of the features in Photo (just this one module, for the moment) does not work.

Looks like everything of the features in the Photo module is broken except for the panaromas which says pictures need to be same dimension to be imported. Never used this one so will need to play with it but it does launch and opens to bring in photo's.

With you getting those runtime errors in Videowave trying the test Jim suggested, it indicates that your installations either never completed correctly or has been broken somehow (maybe from some software update, AV blocking part of the install process, etc... any number of possibilities ). A lot more than the Photo app is "broken", and was probably so before in Creator 2009.

Your best option at this point would be to do a clean install of Creator 2010. It will remove all traces of Roxio/Sonic products from your system. Print out and follow all the steps as outlined in the KB article.

How about telling us your system specs, especially video card  . It certainly looks like your install is corrupt if Videowave does not launch. The only way to fix that is with a clean uninstall/reinstall if your system is capable of even running this software. There is nothing wrong with the software, I and others have no problem with Photosuite. Creating a slideshow through Photosuite is the wrong way to do it. The Slideshow wizard is very limited in this capabilities and feature. Videowave is the proper prgogram to use for creating a slideshow. Creating a slideshow in Photosuite uses completely different parts of the software then simple work with photos. When you create a slideshow you are actually creating a video which may require use of your video card and the correct DirectX installed on your system

Thanks for the reply Larry and Walt,

I would agree that something is not installing correct but this is the same issue I have with Creator 2009 and all the uninstalls and clean installs, shutting down programs loading in the background and then reinstalling with that version did not correct the problem. Tech support never came up with another solution. Plus the problem seems to be the one module. I burned an audio cd this afternoon and it went smooth.

I sent Roxio all types of info files of the system and they did not report anything with the computer itself.

We aren’t Roxio and have no access to what you might have sent them…

You full system specs and since this happened on your PC with both 2009 and 2010, might be a good idea to list programs too???

Obviously something is interfering with the install or the programs… Have you ever formatted your drive since you had your PC?
