Transitions Problem

j9kc

Question

I have been using the EMC7 for the past year with success in creating vacation DVDs (combining music, photos and video files). So this is what happens, I'm working on a project and suddenly I find my .jpg images have replaced the "logo" of the transition and even the type of file.Typicall the transition files have an .vwtrans extension and somehow they gotten changed to an .avi file. Does anyone know how to fix the problem?

I haven't added any software and I even tried un-intstalling and re-installing (I've even re-installed the patch (updateretailto430) with no luck. What's up ...can anyone help?

Thanks

Jan

Try the solution suggested in this post since it seems that your MediaManager file has become corrupt

also missing transition and text icons after a few months of use. I tried the solution offered ion above post:

a. Close all open applications, especially Roxio applications

b. Open 'my computer'

c. Double click on the 'C:' drive and browse to 'C:\Documents and Settings\USERNAME\Application Data\Roxio' where 'USERNAME' is the name of the user you are currently logged in as.

d. Right click on the 'MediaManager' folder and choose rename

e. Call the folder 'MediaManager.old'

Then restart.

This DID work for me!!!

Win xp sp2, 2.8 pentium, 512 ram, 120 gb hard drive: 50% full

Thanks!

Something changed those files. Have you checked for a virus that might have renamed the files?

I'd suggest uninstalling, defragmenting your hard drive, then reinstalling if renaming the media manager database doesn't help.

And you might want to try Roxio Technical Support.

Well I finished the production I was working on...no fancy transitions/overlays....it seemed like only 6 of the transitons actually worked. I managed to create a DVDso when that was done I cleaned up my drive, deleted all the files I didn't need and un-installed EMC 7. did a disk clean up etc...... Then I re-installed EMC7 and also did the updates (update70to71_2). Well most of the texts re-appeared , as did the overlays. And a few of the transitions were still showing up as .avi files and not .vwtrans and the Effects were still gone.

Thanks for any insight...I'll try the Roxio tech support and inform

Thanks
