Toast 10.0.4 CD Spin Doctor 6.1.1 Not Launching

I just purchased and upgraded to Toast 10.0.4 yesterday and attempted to launch CD Spin Doctor this morning and it won't launch. After double clicking on CD Spin Doctor I receive the following error message.

 

Toast 10 Titanium or Later Required

 

This application requires Toast 10 Titanium or later to run on your system. The application will now quit.

 

Why doesn't this new version of CDSD not launch?

Since I have gotten this same message with 10.0.3 and CDSD 6.1.1, I don't think this is a 10.0.4 problem.

CDSD 6.1.1 is really messed up in Toast 10.0.4 using MAC OS 10.6.1.

Try launching Toast and opening CDSD from the Extras menu. Caution: The Auto Capture is a mess.

 

I can't get Roxio to tell me anything about a fix or a workaround despite three trouble tix.

I am able to open CDSD by using the Extras menu within Toast. I wanted to do exactly what you had described and use the Auto Capture capability of the application. The "Start Auto Music Capture" appears to work as the timer starts, but when the "Stop Auto Music Capture" is selected nothing happens.

 

I was able to open a file cdsd_scratch.caf if I keep the recording time short (less than 10 seconds), but there was not sound captured even in this short file.

 

Please keep me posted if you have any luck getting this functionality to work.

where are you guys capturing from? I tried to capture something from the net just now on 10.6.1 and it worked fine.

I was trying to capture from Pandora radio. It's the auto capture that fails. It seems to capture, then sometimes does nothing when capture is complete or shows you a waveform to define a track and when you try to send it to ITunes it vanishes into a black hole somewhere. Auto capture should capture, define tracks, then send to ITunes automatically.

I suspect they messed it up when they "fixed" the kext error problem with Snow Leopard. The kext problem is gone but so is auto capture!

Try this: Click Start a New Recording instead of the Start Auto Music Capture. Click the Advanced button to get the main recorder settings screen and choose CDSD System Audio Capture as the Input Device. When finished with the recording mark one track (it doesn't matter how long or where) and choose Save a Copy As... . When that is done choose Open Audio File... from the File menu and choose your recently saved file. From this point on everything should work.

 

It may not be necessary to do all those steps but this way seems to avoid the major CDSD pitfalls.

Obviously Snow Leopard doesn't like the "CDSDAudioCapture.kext" to be found at /System/Library/Extensioons. When I updated my Mac Pro from Leoprd to it's Snowy self, I got repeated warnings that this kext was not properly installed or needed being updated. Installation succeeded anyway but I got the same warning afterwards whenever installing an application or it's update.

Otherwise Snow leopard works approximately well ( the numerous anomalies subsisting in version 10.6.1 have nothing to do with Roxio)

Right now I'm tying to get with great difficulty at Roxio's support. Seems to me their support contact is buggy : After identification , you get a page to explain your problem then , when pressing "Submit" you are back at the identification stage !

Well , after 3 trials , I got out of obstination a ticket number. We'll see what comes next.

FYI: The version of CDSDAudioCapture.kext installed on my Mac is 1.5 dated June 13, 2009. Make sure yours is not an earlier version. As I recall I had some trouble getting it to install properly. I find it always works when I choose it from the main recorder settings window.

Is there adequate silence between the tracks. In CDSD Preferences you can adjust the sensitivity for auto defining tracks. I haven't done this with the system audio capture because it's my preference to do it manually.

the "sound out" preference in the MAC is sometimes switched to CDSD Capture support and sometimes not. If not, you must manually switch it. If CDSD crashes it's left where it was. To be certain the capture works, you must watch the MAC system sound preferences and make sure its set to CDSD Capture Support. If you try this with Auto Capture you get a recording but the level is so high it is overdriving the speakers.

I'm no longer having a problem capturing audio, but there does appear to be a limit to the length of time CDSD will capture. Is here any way to change the maximum length of time CDSD will capture? I don't believe this is a limitation of disk space as my system has over 100GB of free space.
