james_pash@yahoo.com
Can you tell which format to choose for the best quality download from my DV camcorder? I am only interested in making the best quality DVDs. The capture window offers AVI or MPEG-2.
Patty
Can you tell which format to choose for the best quality download from my DV camcorder? I am only interested in making the best quality DVDs. The capture window offers AVI or MPEG-2. AVI is the best way because it is uncompressed, however, it does take up a lot more room on your hard drive. Also when you burn it to a DVD the program will encode it to mpg2 which makes it DVD compliant. The reason you don't do it initially is because if you are going to edit the video it is better to do it on the uncompressed AVI. Hope this answers your question. ggrussell
Make sure you transfer the video using a firewire cable. USB is normally used to tranfer still images or connect the camcorder as a 'webacam'.

I don't know, because I still don't have a digital camcorder.
