Cineplayer Authentication File Error & Windows Media Issues

cgarrettharc

Question

I recently purchased Roxio Media Creator 8 from Dell. I attempted to install the software and thought I was home free. Now I encounter error messages when I try to play a DVD in Windows Media Player, or Media Center (I receive a Decoder Error message). In addition, when I try to play the DVD in Cineplayer, I get an Authentication File error message.

To fix all of this I bought Cineplayer's DVD Decoder ($14.99) on a suggestion from Microsoft & Tivo, which claimed this would allow me to play my DVD in both players. This likewise did not work.

I am at a loss on trying to fix this without having to re-install and remove the programs. I feel like the software my work OK, but there is just a problem reading the DVDs.

Any suggestions?

If you bought CinePlayer DVD Decoder Pack, there is an installer file you downloaded (something like CineplayerDVDPack231_SDD.exe) that should allow you to reinstall it when you need to...

Under the Windows XP Video Decoder Checkup Utility, I have the following options:

Sonic CM® DS Video Decoder 4.0 (check marked in Green)

Roxio Smart Encoder

Roxio MPEG2 Video Decoder

Roxio Smart Decoder

Roxio MPEG2 Encoder

I re-installed the CineplayerDVD Pack231_SDD. I re-installed the Roxio Easy Media Creator 8 suite.

All of these things brought me no luck.

I am sort of at a loss. Any help would be great!!
