Transcoding freeze

xxxxxxxxxx

Question

Hi Guys, If you could help me. I have DVDiT 6.4, running on Windows 7, and everytime I go burn, as it starts to transcode, it stops and shuts down the application. Any suggestions.

I have plentyy of room, ram and computer is P4 all the goodies. Have I configured something wrong? I am using files from Edius 5.12

regards

well, DVDit does not transcode elementary streams, it accepts them right away if made according to my instructions

This should be true.

But, unfortunately, there is a bug in DVDitPro that causes it to re-encode even elementary streams IN SOME CASES!

The filter/codecs that DVDitProHD uses in muxing/demuxing are sometimes hi-jacked by other filters/codecs that have been installed with other applications that also have some muxing/demuxing functions.

When this happens DVDitProHD gets the wrong signals from the elementary stream and goes ahead and re-encodes it.

So Antonsvideo files work on his computer.

If he sent one of his files to xxxxxxxxx (sorry if I mispelled that) xxxxxxxxx would most likely not get the file to do a straight pass through. It would be re-encoded.

Regards,

Douglas

Hi Anton, I created the elementry streams, and it did the same thing, soon as it got to the transcoding part, stopped dead. Now I must mention here that when I was loading it tonight (have loaded it three times) it did say there was a conflict. Again any ideas.

This as well I loaded it in XP compatibilty mode.

Well Douglas , you're right. I loaded onto another compuet, albeit a little newer, and lo and behold it worked beautifully. Disn't work using the avi file, but did with elementry streams.

I just scatches me head? Again thanks to all

It is ALWAYS best to work with elementary streams with DVDit HD, Scott and I had many emails on an issue that could not be solved, until I tried demuxing the clip and it would work! I even sent Scott the clip and they could see my problem but I don't know if they ever fixed it. The demuxer needs to be trashed and be rewritten!!!

Thanks for the confirmation Pete!

This bug has been around for quite some time>

I found it by chance when working with the new BD Powerstation.

Many of the discussions on this forum over the past year or so have been based on the thought that it was a case of getting a compliant file and then it was guaranteed to go straight through DVDitProHD. As we both know now - this is not the case.

As far as I know this bug is being worked on by Sonic technicians right now.

They want to force DVDitProHD to use the correct codecs no matter what others are on your system.

Regards,

Douglas
