exsvcsinc
Well you almost got me there!!! I slapped that together for the screen cap, but never actually tried it! The Media Selector is OK. The Effect Selector works 3 out of 4 and can be made to work 4-for-4… Video Effects, Overlays & Text Effects work fine. However, Transitions will not allow dragging across the 2 monitors but only if you are in Timeline view… Playing around I found that all you need to do is just bring an edge of the Effect Selector onto the other monitor and it works! Likewise it is fully functional in Storyline view… Since a transition can only go on the Video track, they is no reason not to pop into Storyline do the Transitions and pop back to Timeline. Give those things a try and let us know if it works on your system. I'll try that out & let you know. Thanks for the help!

Do you think there is a way to undock the timeline to have on one monitor, and have a preview of the production on the other? (or am I pushing it?) exsvcsinc
NO! did you try what I suggested??? LOL! Ouch!! Forgive me for being slow or maybe not understanding fully, although (and I cringe as I say this for fear of another scolding ) I think I do. I can have my Timeline / Storyline AND the Preview, the screen that is ATTACHED above to the Timeline / Storyline. While I have this, I can undock the Media Selector and have that on my 2nd monitor to the Left, as well as undocking the Effect Selector on that 2nd monitor as well. I can do that, and that is what I initially asked you and with your Roxio super powers you guided me in through the fog I really do appreciate that. So, I cringe again, I was wondering if I can Separate the Timeline / Storyline from the Production Preview that is attached above it. It would be great to have the timeline, fully enlarged on one screen, and the preview of the production that I could click play on, Full Size on my Second Monitor. I really did read your post several times to see if I missed this part, but I could not. If this is my fault, I sincerely apologize, as I know it must be very frustrating to answer somebody's question, only to have them ask again due to their inability or lack or comprehension. I was thinking if I 'stacked' my monitors with dual monitor settings, instead of having them 'side by side' that I could enlarge the Video Preview Window (to make it full screen size, and in elarging it, it would 'push' the timeline / storyline DOWN to the second monitor, where I could enlarge that to full screen size as well. Again, sorry to be a pest. I really do appreciate your help / time / patience.
ggrussell
Sorry, there is no way to 'undock' those. Any application that has 'free floating' windows should support dual monitors by dragging the floating windows to a different monitor. You could possibly stretch the main application window across two monitors, but most likely would be very difficult to use it.
Jim_Hardin
Not mad or upset at all. I was referring to the 2 workarounds I gave you… First it is only the Transitions that won't cross the Monitor boundary, and only when in Timeline. So… Popping between Timeline and Storyline as needed. And keeping just the edge of the Effect Selector child window, in both monitors. I really want you to try the latter, to be sure it isn't just a fluke of my Video Card or Monitors.

exsvcsinc
Discussion thread on an issue about using dual monitor (in Creator 2009 forum). I haven't seen a similar thread posted in C2010. I read that post, and it helps a little bit. I'm more curious if I can have my media selector on my 2nd monitor, or a timeline of a current production on my 2nd monitor. It would be nice if I could kind of spread things out between the two monitors instead of having to toggle back and forth, if that makes any sense. Thanks for the link though. exsvcsinc
Like this? Yes, exactly. How did you accomplish that? When I tried it would always revert back to my main monitor, or not let me access my timeline because other windows were opened (on top of it even though they were on the 2nd monitor.) I can get it like that, obviously, but it wasn't functional.
