Your trying to encode and burn in one step? cd

Check the specs on your DVD drives to make sure they are DL compatible. Frank... I've checked my DVD drive, it is DL Burn capable. HP 360c. I went into the solutions part of the Roxio website, and they suggested I burn the DVD into an image file (ISO), then burn it using the Creator 2010 copy section. I tried this and was going well, when have way through the burn an error calls out the the DL DVD +R is write protected, how can this be? it's a blank DVD for God's sake! List your drives like the pic shows? Are you using Roxio Creator 2010 and what application of the Suite are you trying to burn to the DVD+R DL Disc?? Your trying to encode and burn in one step? cd It's an HP DVD writer 630c Yes I am using the Roxio Creator 2010 "My DVD" But as I researched I found that I can burn the video as an image file (ISO) then burn it using Creators copy section. As I tried to do this have way through the burn I get an error stating that the DL DVD is copy write protected? I'm using Verbatim DVD+R DL8.5 G, 240? This is a blank DVD, how can they prevent people from burning? double quote removed
cdanteek
Have you ever update your firmware for the drive? It's a older drive built as a clone from a BenQ 1620. The original state of your drive only burned DVD + R DL at 2.4x. The disc's you bought might not be recognized in the drives firmware. Why, disc made way after drive sold with original firmware. I would try the program below first (ImgBurn), load in the image file Roxio made and set the burn speed at 2.4x..This small free program burns when others seem to fail with DL disc's! Download the free small program ImgBurn Current version: 2.5.0.0 CD / DVD / HD DVD / Blu-ray burning application. Here.... http://imgburn.com/index.php?act=download Screen shots of the program.... http://imgburn.com/index.php?act=screenshots Guides and forum... http://forum.imgburn.com/ If your a gambler because any firmware flash if you don't follow the directions could end up toasting your HP 630c drive.. By the way, this firmware update is 4 years 9 months old... I've owned a bunch of DVD Drives and updated firmware for those drives. This is by far the worst updating instructions I have ever seen for a drive, thanks HP! Here is the link to the HP firmware... http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwar...;product=432774 Good luck and let us know how things turn out. cd

I downloaded the firmware update, and it shows up as R16. Except when I installed it, it told me I needed the CD for the writer to include "Record Now". It seems this is necessary for the complete firmware install, but it still shows up as being installed?. I don't have the CD because the writer came with the computer HP a810n. I also downloaded Imgburn, and it took over an hour to try and burn an image so I canceled. I'm at wits end!

I said "If your a gambler because any firmware flash if you don't follow the directions could end up toasting your HP 630c drive.." The bottom pic I posted above in my last post, what does it say after the heading, Before Running the Update?? I'm wondering like Walt why you canceled ImgBurn?? A normal DL burned at 2.4X should take around 45-50 minutes.. With the ImgBurn program open and a blank DL disc in the drive, what does it say (get this exactly like it reads) where the two red arrows point?? cd
