Green Screen Help

PhotoMagicCreations

Question

I am working with Roxio Creator 2010 Pro Videowave and have a green screen question. I have my video on my video line and my green screen overlay is on the overlay line. The green screen overlay is set up where a person is holding a green poster board in their hands. I was wondering if there was a way to shrink the video on the video line and align it up with the overlay so that the whole video shows through the green poster board area?

Thank you Sknis and Myguggi for your replies. I am going to work on your suggestions. However, I also have a video clip where my husband is on a couch in front of a green screen which is above the couch. I am also trying to have the whole video fit in this section. He will be reaching and pointing in front of the screen. I don't think your suggestion would work in this case. Is there a way to size the video for this?

There is no way to resize the main screen but you can add a color panel the same length as the video and then use mulitple video tracks for the green screen and other video.

You seem to miss the concept of the greenscreen…

It is used on an Overlay – think laying something OVER something else.

Now you have covered everything Under the overlay… But you can select a color on that Overlay (green) and set it to be transparent.

Thus everything Under the transparent area shows and everything Not Green on the overlay shows.

Do the reverse (if I understand you correctly). Put the green screen on the main track and the video as an overlay. Adjust that overlay to fit. Actually no need for a green screen.

Steve in his post mentions that there is no need to use green screen at all.

Put the image of the person holding the poster board on the main video track and expand it so that it will cover the time of the video. Then add the video to the overlay track, double click the video and the overlay editor opens where you can adjust the size and position of the overlay to cover the poster board.

Sknis - Thank you for your reply again. I think your suggestion might work. I am going to try it when I get a chance this week. I may have some more questions on how to do this.

Jim - Thank you for taking the time to assist me. I probably am not describing my problem clearly. I do get the idea that the green screen is like an overlay and you can choose a color to be transparent and it will show what is underneath, but because my green screen section is only a small portion of the whole video picture, I wanted to reduce the full view of the video small enough that it's entire picture would show through the small green screen area. Otherwise, I only get the portion of video that is directly behind the green screen, not the total picture. I hope this makes sense.

I just really want to say thank you, to both of you (and Myguggi), for being so kind to answer these questions for me and for helping me understand the program a little better. You have truly been a help to me and I am sure others on this forum.

Thanks for helping a newbie.

Kelly
