No Highlight or Way To Choose Video In MyDVD

Mr. Dan

Question

After I encode and burn a DVD video with MyDVD with a menu when its played, there is no pointer, color change, or anything that stands out to let you know which video you have chosen. You have to simply guess which video you are choosing. This has been an issue with clean installs of XP and Windows 7. Any ideas on how to resolve this issue?

I had the same problem, i.e. no highlighting of the menu titles when playing on a DVD player. Funny thing is I created a useable menu DVD using the "Cascade" menu style. Then about two weeks later for a second project, the "Cascade" style yielded a non-highlighting menu. So:

I uninstalled/reinstalled Creator 2010. I did NOT download service pack two. I did NOT make any changes to the default menu fonts (color, size, style). I used menu styles "Sports" & "Spring". I used hardware render (as far as I know that was used for all successful and non-sucessful DVDs). Anyway, I've burned two out of two projects now with useable menus.

Roxio support has told me "it is a known problem and they are working on a patch".

Oops, I meant I used menu styles "Sports" and "Seasons" for the successful DVDs.

This is a bug that occurs with certain menu styles. Which one are you using? The problem should already show up when you run the preview so you don't waste a DVD.

Also, is your render method set to Software or Hardware (look under File/Tools/Options)? Toggle to the other method and try.

I've used a menu style that existed in previous versions as well with same results. In preview mode it shows a red hightlight. I also render in software mode for better results. Thanks

Now that certainly make it clear which one you are using ! The question was asked to gain knowledge in case someone else asks the same question.

Also your post is not clear; is what you posted your normal procedure or is it what you have just tried. If the latter, did it work?

The problem only occurs in software mode. If it also occurs in hardware mode then you video card drivers are out of date or the card is not cappable of handling the video.

It would have been helpful if you had told us what menu style you used. If it occured in previous versions then its most likely video card related
