Creating png file in Edit Photos

tauri

Question

I used to be able to create good png files with the older version of roxio. Now when I try to do this, my png pictures have a big white box around them when I try to insert them into other things. This is very annoying and not at all what png is supposed to be. How can I cut a shape out of a photo and make it into a png file that will not have a giant white box around it when added to other things?

Karri, a frequent poster, should see this. She can help you out.

I think that when you click Save As, and change the type of extension to png, you click on the Options button, on the right side of the screen, and click in the Yes circle below Transparency.

Give it a shot, and if it does not work, Karri, or someone else, will drop in to give you the correct procedure.

Bruce, that would have been my answer, too :)

tauri try Bruce's suggestion and come back if it doesn't work.

Sweet. That worked, thank you. The only option it doesn't work with is the mask/ cut out by shape. For some reason I can not switch that one from "Combine with current selection" to "Subtract from current selection." It automatically chooses combine and is greyed out so I can't switch it. Is there a fix for that?

I think you have to have 2 shapes active on the layer for the Combine/Subtract to be active. Maybe you only have 1 shape added?

You're welcome, and thanks, Karri. It's one thing that I was almost sure of, in PhotoSuite, but I did not have time to test it.
