Still no artist CD text

cheekyage

Question

Hi guys,

I am continuing to encounter this very frustrating issue where no CD-text displays for the ARTIST.

When importing a CD into iTunes the artist and title are converted into Japanese text.

I am able to view CD text under the DISC INFO menu in Toast 10 however not on CD text compatiable devices eg. Pioneer CDJ1000 MK3.

I have used different MP3's, different discs but nothing, still no ARTIST CD text.

I have also burned the same MP3's using other CD duplication software including iTunes on my mac and pc and it works perfect.

This rules out that the properties and coding on my MP3 files are incorrect. They work fine elsewhere but not in Toast 10.

I am a DJ and music producer and am very reliant on having CD text on my CD's.

If anyone can provide additional feedback or assistance that would be great.

I have logged a support web ticket with Roxio however I am not getting very far.

My specs are as follows

OSX Snow Leopard, 10.0.4 of Toast 10.

This is because iTunes doesn't read CD Text. It gets its CD information from the online CDDB by looking for a match with the same number of tracks and track lengths as the inserted CD. There is an applescript at dougscripts.com called CD Text to cdinfo that automates the process of copying the CD Text information into the iTunes database file.

I don't have any CD Text-compatible device so I can't check this. It is supposed to be readable by such devices and I have no clue what that isn't the case with yours.

So burning an audio CD with iTunes results in a disc where the artist information appears on your Pioneer player. Is that correct? Or is it just that the tracks are properly identified in iTunes. iTunes updates its cdinfo database file on the Mac when burning audio CDs but third-party applications such as Toast are prohibited from modifying that system file.

Yes this is correct.

When I burn my music disc via iTunes the CD text is recognised and displays on my Pioneer CD players.

I would continue to use iTiunes however I always need to import the tracks which is rather time consuming.

Toast 10 makes it super quick just by dragging the files from the folder. Yet I need CD text!!!!!!!

I'm sorry that I don't know how to fix this with Toast. However, there may be a preference in iTunes that makes it so you don't have to copy the tracks into the iTunes library. I'm not certain of that but give it a look.
