Capture Video Not Working

dnmoser

Question

Hello All, I recently installed Roxio Easy VHS to DVD. I downloaded and installed the Service Pack 2. I want to use the "Capture Video", but it will not work. When I click Capture Video, I get a little orange loading box, then it disappears, then nothing. I tried some of the other options in the various menus and they seem to work ok, but not the "Capture Video". I want to copy to my PC first so that I can edit before burning to a DVD, or I would just use Plug and Burn. Please help. I don't have any other Roxio software installed. I thought there might be conflicting issues so i uninstalled the software that came with my Dell. It still doesn't work. FYI, the other software is Roxio Creator Premium SD 10.2. My next question is, are there any known conflicting issues with these Roxio products that would prevent me from reinstalling the Creator Premuim?

OK, I did a clean install again. Still not working. Please someone help. I go into Create DVD. Click on Capture/Import and get nothing. No Menu loads. Nothing. I'll never buy from them again and I'll never recommend Roxio to anyone. What a bunch of CRAP!!!!!!!!!! The most useless software ever. I hope they go Bankrupt. :angry2: Down with Roxio!!!!

The only conflict would be if you had Creator 2009 but the Dell 10.2 would no hurt it.

You need to look over the Install Steps: KB Page

And do a Clean Install: Vista/Win7 - XP

These will removed any Roxio/Sonic, including 10.2.

The Dell 10.2 OEM offeres very little - no video, so don't be in any hurry to install it.

Thank you for your input. Unfortunately it still doesn't work. Maybe I am expecting something from the software that it isn't capable of doing. I want to use the "capture video" module under the video heading. All other modules work fine. The "capture audio" works. What I can't understand though, is why the "capture video" module doesn't work.

Of course the software is capable of capturing video - that is actually one of its main functions.

What are your system specs, especially video card? What is the OS, what patch level?

Dell Dimension E510, Windows XP Pro Service Pack 3, Intel Pentium 4 CPU 3.2 GHz, Radeon X300 SE 128MB HyperMemory Video Card. 4GB RAM. The Plug and Burn seems to work, but I don't want to burn directly to a DVD. I want to edit the video on my PC first, then burn it to a disc. From what I can understand, that is what the capture video option does, while the Plug and Burn copies video straight to the DVD, not allowing editing beforehand.

Correct – Capture, well it captures to file (DV setting recommended)

Edit – opens VideoWave which allows for extensive manipulations.

Create DVD – opens MyDVD allowing you to create the user interface (menu) and Author (burn) to DVD.

But if it isn't working, Clean Install is the ONLY fix...
