Can I do only the audio from VHS tape to CD?

Can I just transfer the audio portion of a VHS tape to a CD? If so, would I use just the audio connections? Do I have to have the video connection too? For another time, I am not sure how to connect the video and want to make a audio CD for Thanksgiving.
