In almost all questions like this, the Poster is trying to copy a commercial movie that they have downloaded or used some other software to crack the protection and make a copy of it…

It is illegal and no postings like that are allowed.

Unless your source movie with these subtitles is as pure as the driven snow we are pretty much done here???

I too am having this problem - subtitles retained when settings changed to 'None.' The videos we are using are produced by our school media department and there is no copy protection of any kind on the original. What we have been trying to do is what is being dismissed as illegal with no discussion on these boards - convert DVD-Video with subtitles over to MPEG4 or WMV without subtitles. Either format will do.

In every attempt, any option setting we change simply reverts back to its original setting.

This really appears to be a problem with the Video Copy and Convert portion of Creator 2010. Previously, we were able to convert successfully without subtitles using the Video Copy and Convert function in Creator 2009. Since the custom settings controls in Creator 2010 are so much nicer, we really would like to be able to achieve the same results using our recently upgraded version.

So, I guess contributors can dismiss this and say that what you want is illegal and walk away, or, it can be acknowleged that the product has bugs in it and it not functioning properly.

The recent service pack did not fix this issue and I am hopeful that a future service pack will.

Dev.

Great!!! Since you are as pure as the driven snow you won't mind posting a short 5 – 10 seconds copy on a server like http://www.upfordown.com and we can download it and take a look…

I would like nothing better than to play with some of these and see what is going on and if we can fix it!

Post back when you have that done.

I was wondering if this issue has been corrected...??..I'm trying to backup my dvd collection and create my own digital collection that can be played from and stored on my hard drive. I don't believe that is illegal since I purchased all of these movies. This was the main reason I purchased the software in the first place. Please let me know.

I'm afraid it's NOT legal. You didn't purchase the movie itself, just the physical disc with a license to view the movie in private.

Unfortunately it's illegal to circumvent copy protection in almost every country in the world

Thanks...That's a bummer.

Hay I tried to change those settings but once you set the settings and click ok, the box goes away but if you reopen it the settings are back to the default with subtitles enabled.....grrrrrrr

I have the exact same problem. I have a non copy protected DVD and every time I try to convert it, I go into Options and turn off the subtitles. I immediately go back in and all the subtitle boxes are selected. Since that is my only non-protected DVD, I thought it was the DVD, but sounds like it may be the program.

right, understand it's not embedded in audio. When one is trying to convert from dvd content to say mpeg4, if subtitles is an option, even if one chooses to disable subtitles, the subtitles appear in the converted file.

So, since you've gone ahead and assumed some things here I'll go ahead and assume you don't want to help. Thanks. No, not a commercial movie, etc. A production made by the University of Texas BY MYSELF. No, I can't post a short section of it, it contains secure information that is for departmental use ONLY. This department assists a defense contractor. Hence the reason we purchased this software instead of handing secure information over to a 3rd party. I'm even barred from allowing the communications department from assisting.

So, if you don't want to assist, no worries, other folks with less need to inject their assumptions are willing to help. If you know the software well enough to know how this issue is occurring and "help" others, great. If not, keep your assumptions to yourself.

Your mother should have taught you this.

Park your high horse outside! Cannot assist without something to work with…

If you have the software that makes files with sub titles, make me one and make it available!

You and the other snowflake are creating these false obstacles then claiming 'no help'. Have to admit, no one has played the National Defense card lately  But your not the first one to do so.

I will look around a little more to see if I can find a DVD with subtitles that I can dabble with.

To make sure I have the steps right, DVD w/subtitles in the drive.

Use VCC to make a file and point it to one of the VOB files on the disc???

I really don't think I have any, but I will check and see what I have.

This is a user to user forum. Please contact Tech support so they know about it. Sometimes a Roxio employee will read through the forums and respond.

All software has bugs. Most of us have never worked with subtitles so we can't be much help without a file with subtitles.

OK – I found one!!!

I ran VCC with these settings: post-39730-1259960288.jpg

The result was a Video with NO Subtitles!!!

With Subtitles turned on: post-39730-1259960282.jpg

You then have a choice of:

English:

French:

post-39730-1259960304.jpg

Spanish:

post-39730-1259960311.jpg

Or OFF:

So it does work, now the big, big question is Why not on all??? What is different?

I have my specs listed.
