No Signal From Sony Handycam

Hello,

I am trying to use vhs to dvd for the first time, but it is not recognizing my sony Hi-8 handycam. I'm sure I have it connected correctly, but there is no signal no matter what options I choose in the cpature video window. Please tell me how to get this working or if it even works at all with my cam corder.

Look through cdanteek’s pinned post at the top. Carefully compare his pictures with your system.

 

They have to be a perfect match or it will never run!

 

Need to know our Operating System as well as the full Version number of your V2D. (Home app, Help – About)

Is it an analog camera? (yellow , red and white cable). I found that it only gas a signal once you press play on the camera.. you will miss the first milliseconds of footage but then you can press the capture now button

You're correct floorlord. It's analog and I figured out just by pushing play that that was what I needed to do.

You press Play and quickly press Pause…

 

Start your capture and press play. You edit out the pause portion and miss nothing this way! (of course no one uses P&B for reasons like this )

 

Also when using a camcorder, always include some ‘extra padding’ at the beginning and end of each scene… Keep in mind, you can always cut things out but you can never add what isn’t there

 

While I passing along video tips, I use a slow 5 second count when making a scene... Much less and looks like the video equivalent of a Kidnapers Ransom Note And this leaves room for a nice transition at each end.
