cd burning issues

kevin johnson

Question

:angry2::angry: i have had my creator 2009 over a year and have yet been able to burn a simple cd. I have music on my hard drive, i am able to load and arrange it on the project and all things seem to go as the user guides says until I try to burn, I CANNOT burn none of my music. I click on export to find "output settings" I then click on BURN, I load a blank cd (the system reads it as a blank) however 5 seconds into the burning process my load tray spits out my blank cd and Roxio ask me to put in a "BLANK CD". I try several types: memorex, sony, tevion, hp, verbatim and NONE of these blank cd's are compatible with my version of roxio creator 2009. CAN ANYONE RESPOND BACK AND HELP ME RESOLVE MY BURNING ISSUES....thanku...(laptopdj)

Can you burn a data CD using Roxio or Vista's burning program?

no, I have not tried to burn data as I'm not quite sure a "data cd" will play in my car. but my guess is if I try it will still do the same thing and kick out my blank and then ask for one.

I don't know, Kevin. Following your steps my Music Disc Creator produced a perfectly fine audio CD for me - although I don't see the need for step 4.

I'll try to get you some help.

thank u...would love to use the overlapping and beatmatching if possible, but I can't seem to get there...is there any other information I can pass on that will help?

what i find interesting...on page 113 of my user guide it says: "To burn a project to adisc or save as a dosc image file: (1) Click Output Settings to choose output settings" Now Brendon, in order to find "Output Settings" I must click on EXPORT, however the User Guide never direct me to click on export to find Output Settings....I found it by accident. does that help any?

I agree with Brendon.Following your steps I had no problem creating a disc.

Skip step #4.That lets you export the project to a file instead of to the disc. You know that because it's asking for a destination on your hard drive.

This could be the problem.

Also when you're in Export what format are you choosing? If it's anything other than wav than I'd expect a conflict.

Then when the burn screen comes up are you pointing to the drive that has the disc in it?That would be a different location than what you used in Export.

Try skipping step 4 and see what happens.

I skipped step 4 and I still have the same results....it recognizes that I have a blank cd, but when I ask it to burn the wav. files (music) the tray opens up and asks for another blank cd, then another, then another...........

By burning a data cd it will prove that your burner is working ok. Just copy a small file (if it works) verify that you can open it and read the data). Use a CD-RW then you can erase after the test.

Thanks Kevin,

The user guide is awry I'm afraid. This is the "Output settings" they're talking about. It's the Burn Setup dialog box you get when you click on the Burn button. The top half sets to burn an image or a disc, and the bottom half has the fiddly bits.

I hope that helps to reduce confusion.

The reason for burning a data CD in some non-Roxio application is to tie the fault to either the Roxio software or your burner itself.

Regards,

Brendon

I guess you mean you are unable to burn a CD.

Would you please tell us:

-details of your system - burner drive make and model especially

-details of your Operating System

-details about the type of CD you are trying to make and the source files you are using

-details of your procedure - what you did step-by-step, and what error message(s) you got.

Thanks very much. That information should give us some clues as to the cause of your problem.

well, i have a Toshiba Sataelite L305D-S5934 (AMD Turion X2 Dual Core Mobile Processor RM-70; my burner/drive on my laptop is TSSTcorp CDDVDW TS-L633P ATA Device (standard cdrom drive); my operating system is windows vista and the cd's i tried to use were: memorex cd-r 52x, verbatim cd-r 52x, sony 52x (all bought at best-buy) and tevion cd-r 52x (bought at aldi's grocery store)

step 1: i clicked on roxio creator 2009

step 2: clicked on create music disc project (i would just love to try and use my beatmatching and overlapping projects...)

step 3: (audio cd is already selected) clicked on add audio tracks (added a few music files from external hard drive)

step 4: clicked on export to find output settings and exported files

step 5: clicked on burn (roxio tells me to load a blank cd and i do and click; and it reads it as a blank and i click ok)

step 6: i close the tray and 5 to 10 seconds later the drive tray opens back up and roxio says "please insert a blank disc in this drive" even though I HAVE ALREADY ENTERED SEVERAL BRAND NEW DISCS AND EACH TIME IT WILL NOT LET ME CONTINUE!!! can you Brendon please kindly tell me what am i doing wrong here?:(
