Rick Wulf
I performed a clean install per Roxio's instructions twice, and this is the error message I receive. I purchased the Roxio 2010 special edition, which is only 1 disc. Then it tries to "rollback" and doesn't complete the uninstallation. Any help would be fantastic why this is doing this. Thanks. Sonic Boom
Nah. We'll get it to install. Give me a bit to pull the registry keys that you'll need to check. I need to actually install the same version so it will take a bit of time.
Sonic Boom
I think these two reg entries are causing it to fail. Try deleting them and rerunning setup. Jim_Hardin
Vista 64 bit, Windows completely updated, installation completely clean per instructions, even talked to a tech support guy who was completely inept. Copied disc to hard drive and ran from drive, still same error. Got an e-mail from tech support: "Since you have purchased the Roxio Creator 2010 Special Edition that Roxio Video Capture USB device is included, you must install the 'setup.exe' file first followed by Creator 2010 contents, and last will be the driver for the Video Capture USB device." Don't understand these instructions. Only 1 disc, only 1 setup.exe. Repied back, we'll see. Looks like I'm out 67 bucks. Rick: Those instructions would have been applicable to the Creator 2009 SE set. He may not have realized that 2010 has the driver in the program. But be sure you follow Sonic Boom's instructions, he in not inept...
Rick Wulf
I was not calling him inept, I was calling the phone tech support guy inept. I was on the phone with him over an hour and he kept telling me to do the same thing over and over. Every tie, I would say, "I already did that", he would say, "Oh sorry, that's right", and then tell me to do it agian. I told him I already did a clean install per the instructions, and he would say, "You need to do a clean install..." Sorry if it soulnded like I was clling Sonic Boom inept. I will try his advice. Rick Wulf
I tried to use this patch. I am asked this question: This application will remove corrupted Creator 2009 install registry key, would you like to continue. I click yes. But I get this response: Could not locate the required registry key for removal. Thanks for the attempt, but looks like this is not a fix for 2010. This is for Creator 2009 but it might work here. Jim_Hardin
I think your best bet with this one is phone Roxio! Don't be put off by the Charge per Incident, there isn't any charge for install problems on new software!
Sonic Boom
What Operating System are you running this on? 32-bit or 64-bit. There is something in the registry that probably needs to be removed.
