Burning Simple Video II

footejb

Question

I am still trying to burn a simple Video. I took the previous advice and tried to freat a Videowave production which seemed to work at first. I save the production and then eport as video file. While exporting, the production stops exporting after 69% complete and freezes. What should I try next? For those of us who are technically challenged is there somewhere we can go to take some classes on how to do this sort of thing?

OK. So I took my videos and made Videowave productions. Seperate Productions for each item in my Camcorder. Trip to the beach. Daughter's school play. Haloween. I saved each as a videowave production. I then went to MyDVD and added them as a new movie onto a menu with each one as a seperate item on the menu.

I then hit burn and got the same message. Error Encoding the Movie 8004520c. I have already Defraged the computer so that is not the issue.

I then tried the same procedure with only adding one videowave production to the menu and it encoded. There is something about adding more than one item to the menu that is preventing me from encoding. I do not want to use a single DVD for each production because each production may only be 5 minutes long. The menu has slots for more than 1 item. I also made sure the production items on the menu did not overlap.

If the Videowave production went O.K., save it as a dmsm file (name of your choice) and then open up the MyDVD program and import it. Do any other editing that the program a has to offer and then burn the DVD from the MyDVD program. Remember to save it also. this time the extension will be "dmsd" with another nake of your choice.

As far as a place to go to sort out your Roxio program problems, you have come to the right forum (regardless of which Roxio program you are working with). This forum has some exceptionally knowledgeable individuals on just about any problem you might need assistance with. If you have a particular question as opposed to just a generic question that alsways helps.

What are you system specs, especially video card?

How long in time is your video project? In what format is the source video? Are you adding any transitions or special effects?

OK I give up. Where is Device Manager. I see conrol panel but no Device manager. I am using a Sony Vaio Laptop with Windows XP.

It's under System/Hardware. That is a basic in Computer 101. You may need to get someone, computer savy, to help you, but I will keep trying, for now.

Try going to Tools/Options, and change from Hardware render to Software render, and see what happens.

I still believe that there is something amiss with one of the files or transitions, in some area of your production.

OK. I changed to Software Render. My project worked and I was able to burn 1 DVD. I then attempted to take the next 5 productions and burn a new DVD with different videos. I also used software render. I got same encoding error. I went back to Hardware render and got same error. Turned whole thing off and tried several more attempts each time getting same encoding error. Very frustrated.

First, try to burn your production, from MyDVD, as Frank suggested. If it freezes at that same 69%, then you have to check/remove the file, transition, or whatever, at that point, because that is what is causing your problem.

"a new DVD with different videos" ??

Is one or more of your different videos broken?

No. I tried to create a new DVD after making one. I have 3 years of video clips in my camcorder. I am trying to get caught up and burn them to DVDs. Now the program allowed me to ge a few clips onto a DVD with the change from Hardware render to software, I tried t do it again with a few more clips. I, however, am back to the same encoding problem.
