Video USB error code 43

jbama

Question

I am running Creator 2010 and finally got it installed and working. I bought the Roxio Video Capture USB and was able to record several tapes from my VCR. However when I rebooted the computer, Windows 7 did not recognize the Video Capture USB device. I get unknown USB device. When I open the device manager, I have an "unknown USB device". I tried replugging in the device, disable / enable the device, uninstall the device and let windows scan for new hardware, but nothing seems to work. The error in Device manager is "Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)". I bought the package at a retail outlet store. Does this error indicate a failed device or a bad installation?

From MS

"Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)

Recommended resolution

One of the drivers controlling the device notified the operating system that the device failed in some manner.

If you have already run the Troubleshooting Wizard, you might want to check the hardware documentation for more information about diagnosing the problem"

Uninstall it again but don't let Windows find the driver; point to the Roxio driver instead.
