Menu functions barely work in blu-ray... why did i buy this version ?!?!?

inthemiddle

Question

So...under a blu-ray project.. I tried to create a play-all button up at the top of the structure, copied exactly the format that one of the gurus on here posted a jpg of.... tried it with even just 1 or 2 titles.... with and without sub-menus.. no matter what i do... with that button in there, when i try to burn i get that unsupported button function error... or whatever it is a couple people have mentioned on here... (all the titles are slideshows.. all created and saved seperately..)

ALSO... the option to have a Title play another title when finished is grey'd out.. can't select it....

So... basically if i don't want to go back to the menu after every chapter, i have to burn a disk with NO menus... (which is lame, cause i made great menus !!!) ... and if I create menus.. every 5 minutes i have to navigate through submens, etc to play the next title !!!!

Also tried "change project type" to DVD... which then let me assign each title to play the next.. (and works if i burn a dvd at that point) (still no play all function though).... and then changing the type back to blueray.... doesn't work... same problem...

i did check the links for each title as it plays... and the link does say title_name_and_all_remaining_movies ... but it just doesn't work when you burn it !!!!

(if i remember right though.. it DOES work in preview... 99.9% sure... although i'm on my 10th try ..so they are running together.... why would it work in preview and not burnt ??? or playing from an iso on a computer..... tried a ps3 and the cineplayer with bd plug in on two computers.. same result)...

help ?!??!!? to me that is BARELY functional as blu-ray burning software.. the authoring is basically USELESS...

if i tried converting the slideshows to video first... what's the right format..etc.. how do i do that without losing quality ??

Like so many other users, you are confusing terms. Chapters is 'part of a movie'. When you add a video file to a menu or submenu, that is NOT a chapter. It is a Title for which you can create chapters. For some reason, people are adding files to the main menu and calling those chapters. That simply doesn't happen regardless of how you trick MyDVD into playing the files.

When you insert a DVD that you purchase, the first thing you see are choices like Play, Scenes, Director Comments, etc. You will NEVER see a bunch of movie chapters on the First Menu. I just don't understand why people seem to insist on doing that.

I think it happens because the BD menu structure is not the same as a DVD structure. I will pm someone who knows a lot more about this than me, and hopefully, he will drop in and explain the differences, if he can.

I'd appreciate that.... just knowing what i need to do to make it work well would be nice....

whether i said chapter (once) or title (4 times), picking on me for using the wrong word once doesn't really help solve the problem does it ?

btw... people probably do that because we are all used to using the word chapters in things like... um.. books.... regardless, the point is i can't get it to play more than one at a time when using blu-ray format without going back to the maim menu

i finally got it to work on DVD format by selecting the option to do that under project settings AND having each title linked to the next under the properties/settings for each title... PROBLEM IS THOSE OPTIONS DON'T EXIST FOR BLU-RAY PROJECTS.... so.....???????????????

oh yea... and creating a play all button on the first page still DOES NOT WORK... unsupported button function or something like that, when i link it to 'play all movies in project'

If you can't speak the language and are unwilling to lift a finger to learn it, you won't even understand an answer if you get one… ;)

Your unwillingness to learn started in this thread, Here and blossomed

Oh, I just tried it and the unlinked button and it works properly in a BD project after you link it.

Yea... pretty funny isn't it.... I thought my comments in the thread you reference show very much that I was willing to learn... (where as your comments there and here were condescending and berating).... all i'm learning is how useless you are....

If you actually wanted to help, you could have said things like:

(in answering my 'the menu is full' question) 'you should be able to say no and pile em on, it's just referring to the template' ... vs suggesting a use a 'birthday' template.. which well the closest i saw were balloons... ... if that means birthday to you, great... but maybe you could use the right words... or be a little more specific, or actually help and say it doesn't matter (cause it doesn't seem to)

(in answering my question about different types of menus, and buttons) .. well you could have answered it ??? seems to me there isn't any at this point in case anyone else is wondering

(in answering my question about blank slides and missing buttons)... well again.. you could have answered it ??? and perhaps suggested trying hardware rendering

(in answering my question about 150 second limit on menus)... you coulda just said, that's the limit, no way around it that you know of... .instead of a condescending 'why would you want to do that anyway' comment

(and my question about only playing 2 titles at a time) ... perhaps instead of berating me about using the word 'chapter'... perhaps something simple like "hey, sounds like what you are trying to do is suited for chapters, but it sounds like you made and are trying to use titles instead..... if that's the sort of functionality you want, you should make one single big movie, and break it into chapters, and that should work" but thankfully in your rush to make yourself feel superior you told me to forget about the chapters and make titles (implying that would work for what i obviously wanted... which it doesn't) .....

...............and i quote

"You then add each VW project file and it will add a thumbnail on the main menu page (these are the Titles)

Are you using the Settings to set up the navigation for your menu? For each Title you have to set the correct link to the next Title for the After Playing option. Forget about the chapter option. "

So bottom line.. the software is not that intuitive, unless you have a lot of experience with authoring... and your attitude does little to help the situation.... accusing people of being unwilling to learn when they are asking legitimate questions and doing nothing other than show your own combination of arrogance and insecurity

I sincerely hope my own updates to all my questions above can help others who may have the same questions... since you seem to be incapable of such a task
