Creator 2010 AVCHD Capability Question

HD Newbie 106

Question

I have Creator 2010 installed and have tried to use the AVCHD archive capability (Camcorder to DVD) as well as trying to burn an edited HD movie to a standard DVD using the AVCHD option. In the first case, the software indicated the archive was successful but the DVD appears to be blank. In the Second, It appeared as if the burining process did not take place.

I do not have the pro version or the Hi DEf/Blu-Ray plug in. Do I need the plug in for the tasks described above?

AVCHD Archive: Never been able to use it, my camcorder uses a different format…

Others have and I thought they reported that it works???

No plug in is needed.

Thanks, Jim.

I have another related question. Is Creator 2010 on a Windows XP home platform capable of burning the archive AVCHD to a regular (not BR) DVD. I understand that I can't read an AVCHD DVD on XP but for now I'm opnly interested in archiving. Same question in regard to burning an editied AVCHD video onto a regular DVD.

I think you should be able to burn. One way to find out! Try it. :) If WinXP can't read it, then it probably worked. But I'm not sure if the archive function uses that format. Archive function may just use a regular data DVD format.

I can read AVCHD DVD's on my XP with CinePlayer from 2010…

But Gary reported he could not! So for some reason it seems a little hit or miss.
