No!

There is no backward compatibility between Label Creator 2010 and label files from any version earlier than EMC 10.1

Why upgrade then? Every other software has backwards compatibility - Not Roxio..... I feel like I have been duped. I have to re create all my old projects or dump 2010 and go back to ver 5. LOL

Agree 100%!!!

The only reason to upgrade is new features you need… Since you use EMC 5 your not doing any Video work, which is where the changes are taking place… Of course you can’t make a Music DVD in EMC 5 and you can’t put EMC 5 on newer Operating Systems…

In the end it is up to you but had you kept up along the way, you would have been up to date and compatible! The EMC 10 to 10.1 would have been a big speed bump but you would have been usable from there for the next 2 versions…

You haven't been duped, you've made an assumption and you know what they say about those. :)

Roxio hasn't had much in the way of backwards compatibility since it was eaten by Sonic, and you're being a bit hopeful if you assume that a new version will provide compatibility without asking someone first.

Having said that, although your Label Creator 2010 doesn't like earlier version .JWL files and Easy CD Creator 5 doesn't run in Windows 7, that doesn't stop you running version 5's Label Creator in Windows 7.

I have Label Creator 5.3.5.10 working well in Windows 7. I just took the C:\Program Files\Common Files\Roxio Shared\Label Creator folder and its two sub-folders from a backup of ECDC 5, and dropped them onto my Windows 7 desktop. Made a desktop shortcut from CDLabel.exe, and voila!

. . . here's my old Queen "Greatest Hits II" label from my version 5 machine. Why don't you try it?
