Creator 2010 Plus won't unlock after installation

Question

Ready to pull my hair out here. I have installed the software on my HP Pavilion dv9420us notebook. After rebooting to complete the installation I had nothing further pop up as is the usual "get to know the product" etc. When I double click on the short cut on the desk top I get a whited out screen that appears to be a place to register the product. I see 3 boxes that I can click and enter data into, but no "ok" button or anything to click on. There is a little red x and the roxio name in the upper left hand corner. I tried for the heck of it to enter my cd key # etc and just hit "enter" on the keyboard. It does nothing.

I uninstalled the program, emptied my trash can. Went into the start up menu and disabled everything. Rebooted, and began the installation again. Same outcome. I am so frustrated. Right now I am having windows do a "repair" on the program to see if that helps at all. I also saw that some people had 2 disks in their package....I only have 1.

Suggestions and help would be appreciated before I end up bald!

I'm sorry you don't listen!

cd

If you'd give me a chance to listen...geesh. It's been a hell of a day and often posts over lap ya know?! Doing the registry edit and I can't locate the Wow6432Node folder. This is still within the software portion correct?

Never mind I see my error in where I am at.

Call me stupid, but despite the fact you want me to update my video card, shouldn't the software at least load properly, as in give me a home page and choices and THEN give me issues if the card is not adequate? I have no trouble viewing any video online.

I'm a good hour drive away from any computer store and I don't have a clue as to what to upgrade to as a replacement. I did just do a search for any updated drivers for my current version.

Good luck...

Did you get the update form HP's website?

Also, have you tried changing your monitor to a higher resolution?

I know it's frustrating, and I guess that I would be ticked too, but even though some folks do video work, on a laptop, I wouldn't. However, you should be able to do video work on yours.

Yes the update was from HP and I am currently set at 1440 x 900 pixels and 32 bit color. I only wanted to make a few dvd slide show with audio, for Christmas gifts.

If all else fails does anyone have any other software recommendations I could try? I tried using something was already installed, a windows program.....I can't remember the name. That would error out and crash as soon as I tried to add a mp3 file to it.

I did a driver update. I have a Nvidia GeForce Go 6150. Then I watched a youtube video to be sure nothing had gone wacky on me. All was good.

Try updating the drivers for your video card/chip, first. What video card do you have?

Frank, before I was going into the uninstall window and choosing the roxio software to remove. This last attempt was done exactly as CD suggested. Unfortunately even after the clean install, the result is the same. I'm going to try and show you all the only thing I get after a reboot. Still no opening home page for the software, only this when I give up waiting for something to happen and attempt to open it myself.

Let me know if this link doesn't work. I posted it to my FaceBook page.c

Oi vey! let me try the link again. I should give up and just go to bed lol. http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?pid=2896...mp;id=569985255

Btw Frank I'm using Vista. The error I mentioned was that I was looking for the Wow6432Node folder in the HKEY_CURRENT_User folder at first, then saw my error that it was in the MACHINE folder instead.

I didn't mean to be testy CD, I truly appreciate your effort to help me. To me though, it is ridiculous that a company that sells software does not have an adequate technical support system, but instead relies on the geeks to solve the issues customers have. And I say geeks with only the highest intention, no disrespect intended.

Anyways I'm done for today. I started this at 8 a.m. and its almost 8 pm now.

Yours,

Well, I don't have a registration for Facebook and elected not to join so I apologize for not seeing your link. Sounfds like you have tried just about all of the ways that normally would solve the installation problem, so I don't have much more to suggest. One last thing I didn't mention though is make sure you have updated your OS (Vista in your case) to the latest update Service Pack. (SP's) Not sure for Vista which one that is but you probably already have it installed.

Also check the Support screen on Roxio's website and make sure "After" you do an install that you have any updates they show for the program installed.

That and as cd suggested, if you can, you might check also to make sure your Video Card has the latest driver if it's a dedicated video card. Or if it's a on-board video chip, that too.

Have a good nights sleep and go for it another day

What ever you are doing, please let us know what you are doing wrong (your error that is) We all try and help the best we can and when you learn, we also learn. That will help probably help others that might have the same problem you have/had. And if you get it installed all O.K. we would like to hear that also :)

You haven't said what operating system you have on your computer. Not that that should hinder the installation, but each time you have remove the program, have you completed the "Clean Install" steps as cd as suggested (letter per letter btw) ?? And if you didn't use that procedure, what procedure did you use when removing it ???

"I uninstalled the program, emptied my trash can. Went into the start up menu and disabled everything. Rebooted, and began the installation again"

When you say "I uninstalled the program..." what does that mean ???

If you are running either Vista or Win7, click on "Programs and Features" in your Control Panel and if you have not totally removed all of the C2010 Plus programs, you should still see some of them listed. So can you tell us what Roxio Programs you show in your "Programs and Features" list, if any, after you have supposedly removed everything ?

Update your video card, your case a video chip probably.

Follow the clean uninstall reinstall # 12 and # 13 in my signature, use the one for your operating system.

Follow it exactly like it says..

cd

As you probably guessed the third attempt did not work, nor did another repair. But I did get these messages while attempting the repair.

Roxio Burn Manager: the following applications should be closed before continuing the install: COM Server wrapper for Vx Block DLL.

Roxio Cine Player:he following applications should be closed before continuing the install:CP Monitor Application.

Roxio Burn: he following applications should be closed before continuing the install: Roxio Burn Launcher and Roxio Burn.

I am SO SORRY I ever purchased this software.

I have the plus version not the pro. Everything looked good following a "normal install" on your post right up to the reboot. From then on I get only the whited out screen, no home page or anything further. It doesn't matter if I go into my programs instead of clicking on the desk top short cut, all roads lead to the whited out box. The repair I attempted didn't seem to have done a thing. I have been tangled up in this for 4.5 hours at this point. I'm so upset. This was supposed to be a fun way to create Christmas gifts from my daughters destination wedding photos and music.

I zipped off an email to the support link too.

Frank I just uninstalled for the second time. After the repair didn't work. Cross, fingers, toes etc that my 3rd installation attempt works.

Have you tried doing a re-install "Repair" for the program ? Or did I miss that in your posts ?

Look through this install of C2010 Pro, did yours look similar?

Not sure which C2010 program you have, but there are two different versions. One is the "C2010" and the other is the "C2010 Pro". I'm not sure about the C2010 but the C2010 Pro has the two disks as I remember. One disk for the main program plus "Content" (templates etc.) and the second disk has some additional programs that you can install (SoundSoap SE; SonicFire Pro; and LightZone). Maybe the base C2010 just comes with one disk ??
