Roxio wont load when new DVD-Drive is installed

NightMan

Question

recently my dvd-rw drive decided it didn't want to work any more so i got a new one, however since installing that dvd-rw, Roxio now will not load, when i try to load it, it just stays there with the loading window and never opens. i cannot even close it from the task manager after. if i disable my new dvd-rw then roxio loads and runs fine. im guessing this is more of an issue with the dvd not been installed correct then a problem with Roxio but im not that good with computers to know how to fix this :( the dvd drive itself works fine with other things though, it reads cd's, dvd's etc i can play music or games from them, its only when i try and load roxio i get problems. can anyone help me or suggest something that could be causing this problem? thanks in advance!

the dvd-rw is an sata drive, LG Super Multi DVD Rewriter, i dont know what other spec's might be needed

thanks again!

Are you trying to install Roxio Creator 2010 now, with this new LG DVD Drive?

How could this be? " if i disable my new dvd-rw then roxio loads and runs fine."

You need to explain things alot better with more details!

thanks for the reply, i have Roxio 7, i just realised i posted in wrong section.. sorry, i have Roxio installed already and it worked fine, since adding in my new DVD drive Roxio wont load, if i go into "device manager" and "disable" the DVD drive so it doesn't appear in "my computer" etc then Roxio loads fine, same as if i unplug the DVD drive Roxio will load fine, but while the DVD is enabled Roxio will not load. iv reinstalled Roxio but it made no difference, it just hangs when trying to load. iv noticed the "sound editor" will work but when i click on things like "copy data disc" Roxio just freezes on the "please wait, loading component" screen. i don't know what other details you want? i'm using xp and roxio easy media creator 7, i was just guessing there's a problem with Roxio trying to read the new DVD drive but i dont know how to solve this. While the new DVD drive is disabled any part of roxio applications (create new MP3 CD, copy data disc etc) will open and work fine, but while the DVD is enabled Roxio just wont load.

thanks again

First I'll move the post to EMC V7 forum....

Go into device manager expand the + next to DVD/CD Rom Drives, right click on you LG DVD Drive and click uninstall.. Close out and reboot the PC, when it starts it should see found new hardware and install the correct drivers for it, let it do it's thing.

Next download # 7 in my signature PX Engine 3_00_58a full installer, to a folder on your hard drive, unzip it in that folder, then double click the .exe file, let it finish and reboot.

Now open your Roxio easy Media Creator 7 software and see how things work..

cd

ok i got a step further, that exe worked good tyvm :), Roxio now opens fine :)

however iv now got another problem trying to get the DVD to burn.. i tried to create a new data DVD (wanted to know it all worked before i came back here), the window which says how much percent its done appeared, then disappeared along with the "Copy DVD" window but the DVD drive appears to be still trying to burn, green light flashing and sounds like it would normally when burning information across. iv left it at least 30 min's now and its still going, all Roxio appears to be turned off so i'm not quite sure what's happening. Has anyone come across this before? i will have another go trying to burn something but im guessing same thing will happen again. thanks for any help!

You aren't by any chance using Drag to Disc D2D? Is Drag to Disc D2D running?

You might have to start from the beginning and uninstall - reinstall the software..

You do have a disc or download of the program?

Print out and follow # 15 in my signature. Don't skip anything and don't add anything...

cd

iv followed # 15 in your signature, but its still not working, it has got a little further, iv managed to "copy files to disc" but then the DVD will only work on that drive, wont work on any other PC or in my normal DVD drive. I've managed to "copy data disc" and it looks like it does it fine, but then the data is corrupt somehow and wont run on anything after. I've not tried burning a cd yet, so im going to try that now..

One more time read the version # off the disc please and post it?

Roxio Easy Media Creator 7 - (7.1.0.220)

thanks for your help!

thanks for all the help so far cd :)

ok iv spent a few days trying to find out what works, all the software works fine, video/audio editor etc, everything loads fines, i can also burn music cd's with no problem, im only having problems burning to dvd.. when i try to copy a dvd (from "video/audio folder" or from "iso" or "disc to disc") then i get the following window for about 20 seconds before it disapears and then nothing happens

if picture doesn't work.. http://h1.ripway.com/keg/DamThing.jpg

when i try and put the dvd's back in the drive, the "mycomputer" window freezing for bout a minute while it try's to read the disc and then i just get the following message

Incorrect.jpg

if picture doesn't work.. http://h1.ripway.com/keg/Incorrect.jpg

If your burning a data disc are you burning as a session and not closing the disc?

cd

yes i forgot to do that.. but now when i try to do it i get this error

NotWorking.jpg

if picture doesn't work.. http://h1.ripway.com/keg/NotWorking.jpg

when i dont do that it seem's to burn fine but then wont play on other devices. iv tried using dvd-r dvd+r dvd+rw dvd's but it doesn't seam to make a difference. iv also noticed when i put an attempted burnt dvd into the drive for some reason the drive name changes into "cd drive" as one of the screen shots above shows.. also when i use an RW, i cannot erase the contents after an attempt, the computer just wont read them and wont left me.. and now I'm kinda stuck for ideas and don't know where to go from here..

soo, so far cd's and software work fine, no luck with any dvd's :(
