Can't adjust input volume with USB input turntable

t3man

Question

I'm trying to record vinyl from my new usb turntable. When I begin Spin Doctor I can choose the input line but then I can't choose to adjust input volume. I have to record it as is. As a result many of the albums will be low volume compared to the others on itunes. Any help???

I believe the USB turntable should have an audio adjustment. Have you checked if there is something that can be adjusted with the turntable's output or to adjust input volume in the sound panel of System Preferences?

Thanks for your reply. When I go to system preferences for sound input I get the message "the selected device has no input controls". So I'm stuck with no way to adjust the volume. The USB turntable is very basic and has no volume control and no pre-amp.

You can adjust the signal strength after capturing with Spin Doctor and Toast has a normalize setting and gain controls. When connecting via USB you are bypassing the Mac's audio drivers which is what Spin Doctor can adjust.
