Creator Classic folder browser & xml files

Everydisplaynameistaken

Question

Hi.. I was hoping that someone could help me out with this - I've googled to no avail.

When I launch Creator Classic, the folder browser (top right portion of the window specifically) does not show xml files.

For example - I created a file called test.xml and placed it on my desktop. If I browse through Creator Classic to the desktop this file does not show in the list. If I rename it to test.xmls it shows up immediately. Renaming it back to test.xml and it just disappears.

I realize theres other alternatives such as dragging the file from the desktop to the project space however I was hoping someone could help me solve this specific issue? It'd be most helpful when adding multiple files to a project through Creator Classic that it not skip over xml files due to it simply not seeing them.

Thanks!

PS. I confirmed that xml files are not an excluded file type for the project

I have no problem in Creator 2010.

As far as I know there hasn't been a change in Creator Classic over the last few versions so your's should work.

If you notice I don't see them in the folder view on top left,I do see them in view on top right when I click on Desktop on left.Maybe someone with EMC10 can check on there's to see what happens.

Hi thanks for your reply. My issue is .xml files not appearing in Creator Classic in the top right part of the window. The xls files in your screenshot are for excel.

I can duplicate the OPs problem. If you change a file extension to "xml" it will not appear in the file list.

Also happens in C2009.

Maybe the system considers it as hidden system file. How about unchecking the Folder options in Explorer to show hidden/protected system files?

Hi there. I can confirm that I have it set to display hidden and system files. Windows Explorer displays the .xml files but the Roxio file explorer does not. If you change the file extension to something else you can actually see the file appear immediately in Roxio. Changing it back to xml makes it immediately disappear.

Hello, thank you for your confirmation. Its unfortunate that this occurs in newer versions of Roxio as well. I recogize this is a user forum - would you know the next step to take to report something like this to Roxio or is it likely to be seen here?

You are absolutely correct.I guess I read the original post wrong. My apologies.

Here's something weird.I downloaded a sample file, open Creator Classic on C2010 and when the screen first opened I saw the file in the right hand box. Then a couple seconds later it disappeared.

It was reported by Walt, (myguggi) but I can assure you it will not be fixed in this version and probably not even 2010.

Think about it, it took 1 1/2 years before anyone noticed it. Not exactly on the front burner

Yes that is strange indeed. I was just exposed to Roxio 10 on the job here and noticed it in my first week.

I was hoping there was just something simple like a setting change but since that doesn't appear to be the case, we'll continue with our current workaround which is adding all our source files to a DVD and then manually add the xml files into the root by drag and drop. An xml file was forgotten recently which prompted my post here.

Thank you everyone for your attention. I suspect my support ticket will come to this same conclusion.

Actually, I believe that if a folder containing xml files is added those files do show up in the burn list even if they don't show up in the source list.. But of course that is totally "unreliable"
