Burning Project hangs at 97% - cannot complete

innov8

Question

I have been through this forum and have tried many things to get my project to burn. I have set render to software, and have tried to burn to disc, to image file, and to folder set. Nothing seems to work. I have also defragged, updated Windows, and diabled the anti-virus. It is 8 slideshows of photos and it encodes all 8 slideshows, then in its finalizing step it gets to 73% of that step (97% in total) and just hangs there. I have been trying to update the driver for my video card (ATI Mobility Radeon X1350) but it keeps timing out. The driver for the dvd writed seems to be up to date. Any help would be much appreciated!

Even though you said they all encode, perhaps one of your slide shows is bad. If you made them in Video Wave (which you should have), open them there and use the OUTPUT AS icon above the preview window to output each of them as a mpg2 for DVD, best quality. I'll bet one of them will not encode. You will have to find the issue in that one and fix it. Watch where it hangs (time) and that should give you an idea of where there is an issue.

Just add those mpg2 files to My DVD and proceed from there.

Note: If you used the Slide Show Assistant, you may be able to open the slide show there and then do the final editing and fix in Video Wave.

Please let us know how you make out.

Turn off the normalize audio when you go to burn. Are you using a standard menu or have you tried to modify it to get all the slide shows to fit on one page. If you did that, you may have screwed up the navigation so it can't encode or if you somehow get it to encode, you won't be able to navigate when you put it in your DVD player.

Hi and thanks for the reply. I made the slideshow in My DVD Basic v9 by Roxio (this came bundled together with Creator Basic and Express Labeller) . I do not have Videowave. All the slideshows preview fine and the navigation also works in the preview. I have the 8 slideshows on the main page together - it didn't allow for any more than that but it was actually just enough. All of the slideshows also have an audio file attached. Any other thoughts? Many thanks - Karen :-)

Hi again - just to give you an update on what I tried (still didn't work - hung up in the same spot), but I did check my Menu "navigation" on the main screen, and although each slideshow previewed fine, when pressing the down arrow button on the main menu preview page it would not go to each and every slideshow. So I clicked "arrange buttons" in the program and then performed the same test. This time it navigated fine through the menu, however, still would not complete. I did a very small new file as a test and only 2 little slideshows and that one completed. Perhaps somewhere along the way my project is a little too muddled up and maybe I need to start fresh?? This is one Christmas gift that may not be on time . . .

Don't try to put 8 titles on one menu page - that is very likely to cause problems. Simply spread them over 2 menu pages.

Another problem of course may be your myDVD Basic 9 version - it is most likely an OEM version which means it may have several features of the full retail version missing or crippled.

Yes, I think I have discovered that's the problem. I got a small test file to work using sub-menus so I'm trying to recreate that in my original file. I haven't quite got it to go yet, but I think I'm close. It still is hanging when it comes to the last part of the burning where it encodes the menus, but I'll keep trying. Thanks.
