Rebate requirements: EMC8 Download

markcolan

Question

I purchased the downloadable version of the product. I wasn't able to read the details of what qualifies for rebate, since the rebate form doesn't come down until you buy.

Question 1. Is Easy CD Creator 4 or 5, full version, qualified for rebate? It isn't listed, though Easy CD & DVD Creator is.

To get a rebate for the download version of EMC8, it says the proof of qualified product must be a confirmation receipt with the CDKey from downloadable product purchase. I don't have that, since I bought the box.

Question 2: Are other proofs of purchase (such as those listed for the box version of EMC8) acceptable for the download version as well? In particular, is a printed copy of the distribution CD suitable?

I found out about the upgrade via an email from Roxio, where I have registered all products I have. It seems to me that since they know what versions I own, their email should be sent only if it applies to me. It does say that this deal is for registered users, which I am.

If I don't get the rebate I think I should, I am fully prepared to get very angry and make insulting comments about Roxio on this board, the way that others have, if that will help.

Great threat. LOLLOL! About 98% of the folks in these forums are users, just like you. I love it when folks put the cart before the horse. :)

Hello 'markcolan'

We are sorry that you were not able to read the Rebate information and requisites. As mentioned by "ogdens" the information is available before even you attempt to purchase the product with all the requirements clearly stated.

As long as you qualify for the rebate, we will make sure you will be approved.

Is that rebate really good thru 12/1/09? :)

Thanks "pcostanza" for pointing it out. But yes it is true the rebate is valid thru 12/1/09 for the period of sale. Roxio currently is undergoing some overhaul of site and links. This will be addressed soon.

I bought Easy Media Creator 8 Deluxe Suite and the rebate form didn't mention any other proof of ownership of a previous version of EMC except UPC or image of the CD. Since I downloaded my copy(s) of EMC 7.5, I had no proof except for the proof of purchase e-mail I received when I bought and downloaded EMC 7.5. I included a copy of that with my rebate request as my proof of ownership and hoped for the best.

Today, I've just received notification that my rebate is invalid since I don't have the EMC 7.5 proof. Does this mean that I'm just screwed? I've submitted a Roxio web ticket but I'm skeptical about whether I'll ever get any resolution. :)

I'm really sick of rebates in general. I'm thinking of starting a rebate boycott movement. Why not just cut the price? I understand there's concern that retailers might just pocket the savings.

Here's a followup: I contacted Roxio/Sonic via live chat support. I was given the rebate phone number and told to contact them directly. When I called, the guy asked for name and zip code and apparently checked my information with Roxio. He reiterated the reason my submission was invalid and then told me that because I was a valued customer that they'd send me my check. So I guess I'm getting my rebate anyway.

I still think the rebate form should explicitly accomodate download customers.
