foxhole
Just upgraded to 10.05 from 8 to try and solve problem of no audio on dvd's. Using toast to convert avi and burn as dvd, but results have fine video but zero audio, same problem with previous versions of toast. Googled problem and found lots of other users with same problem but no solution.? Apple G5, dual 2ghz 3gb memory, 160,320gb drives. [The same files are converted and burned to dvd by my PC using Nero7 without a hitch.]
tsantee
The usual fix for this is to go to perian.org and download and install the Perian codec. You'll need to start the project from scratch again after installing Perian.

tsantee
Perian already installed. I don't know why you'd have that problem. Many AVI files have Dolby AC-3 audio. Perian is needed to decode that audio track. If your AVIs have AC-3 audio then it should work. There is a recent Perian update so check it out. Also, remove any codecs that Perian replaces such as Xvid. These are described on the Perian site.

Did a recent update of perian, but will remove everything and start again with fresh install of codecs and Toast. Will try 10.04 as the lastest 10.05 will not let me even add video files to dvd window[crashes while adding file] and although lets me make a data dvd with same files the burn has failed repeatedly. Did as above but still no audio, the Perian site is very vague about files to remove or how to find them or how to remove them.

Well finally got audio on dvd , trashed all the Quicktime files not just those mentioned by Perian. Unfortunately Toast is still faulty, converted files are jumping, stuttering and fail to burn, cannot force quit toast, have to keep restarting system.
