Don't understand disc error messages

Pelao

Question

Hi

When burning from a Video_TS folder (without any copy protections) I get a couple of errors:

1. If I try to use a single layer disc it says "Compression error".

If I try a DL, without compression I get the following:

The drive reported an error:

Sense key = Medium Error

Sense code = 0x0C

Write Error

Mac 10.6.2

The burner works fine for the same discs straight from the Finder or via other apps.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

#1 - Memorex is a NO NO. I have a spindle sitting on garbage bin :) - Verbatim is recommended.

#2 - Not aware of Rip it but ensure the source DVD was extracted as Full or Complete.

Hi

I had a bad feeling you would say that about Memorex. I really suspect it's the discs that are the problem. As a test I just set up 7 GB of docs to be burned onto a Memorex DL, and only the third disc would burn: the first two tries reported errors.

RipIt is a nice app for quickly ripping DVDs. Fast, simple interface etc. The rip was Full.

Thanks for your help.

You can check user reports for you discs by inserting a disc and choosing disc info from the Recorder menu. A link in the window that appears will take you to a site where users submit how well a particular manufacturing code is working on their systems. Memorex traditionally is very poor.
