Digitize LPs & Tapes - not responding

sanukgray

Question

My challenge is identical to Don J (post of Dec 11, 2009), except that I am using Windows Vista. I am digitizing cassette tapes. I can see the capture coming through fine on the recording level. I click on Stop at the completion of the capture, then click on Next to go to the "Identify and Enhance" screen. It is at this point that the screen goes blank and says at the top "Not Responding". I wait, and wait, and wait, then attempt to close the screen and there is a Windows message "The application is not responding. The program may respond again if you wait. Do you want to end this process? Choices = end process or Cancel" Sometimes I am able to close the program or sometimes I have to go to Task Manager to shut the program down.

Again, like Don J, I initially was able to complete the entire process from Capture to Export with no problem and did many tapes. The problem does seem to be intermittent, but with more freezing problems than not and sometimes I can see the audio in the Recorded Tracks folder, but the capture has not been enhanced or the track volume maximized. Since these are old tapes - these features are important components of this project. What I had hoped would take a few days has taken several weeks to do 8 tapes with several more before Christmas.

I have followed Don J's post and implemented the suggestions he received from Customer Support with minimal results.

Assistance appreciated.

Christine
