Problems importing NTSC format video

nigelj

Question

I am in the UK and have Creator 2009 installed on a Dell Dimension 2400 and have been transferring my family videos to DVD.

I have a combination of PAL and NTSC format videos to copy. I have successfully transferred the PAL format videos but am having a problem with the NTSC format ones.

I am importing the video signal from a Sony TV/video combination which plays both PAL and NTSC format videos (automatic detection of format) via the USB 2861 device and Composite Video in Roxio Media Import.

For the NTSC videoes, the only way I can get a preview signal is to change the TV Format in the options box to PAL_N_COMBO. The preview picture is good quality and with sound.

However when I press the capture button, the screen goes blank and then green after a few seconds and there is no record of the video data data being stored.

When I press stop capture button an avi file is saved there is an error signal "Unknown Cature error" and but there is no content in the file

The default in the TV Format option box goes back to PAL_I

...........any ideas??

You will need to Select NTSC, otherwise the capture won't be in sync with the there 60 interlaced pictures per second and 480 pixels vertically (vs. 50i x 576 pixels PAL).

The USB device captures as is; i.e., it does NOT convert NTSC to PAL and vice versa.
