so okay its a windows media player 10. yes i did read the instructions and downloaded the mpeg2-codec from this website (after paying for them) when activated the codec the system accepted my cd-key and I see them installed when i check the add/remove programs.

in the device manager it shows that my computer has the dvd/cd hardware.

is there something else I am suppose to do to get the player to work?

thanks

i have a dvd that i want to view (i have ran it on my other laptop so i know the dvd works)

i put the dvd in the laptop and the windows player comes up but nothing happens. before downloading the mpeg2-codec I would get the error that i needed the mpeg2-codec.

i clicked on something (can't remember just where) and it said the codec weren't correct, but the roxio website where i purchased those codec's show these are the correct ones for windows xp.

am i missing the correct hardware?

MATSHITA DVD-ROM SR-8175, is a DVD Rom Player not a burner so it should play unless the drive is defective.

What operating system are you using?

Post me a link to the DVD Decoder Plugin you purchased?

Do you meet the system requirements for the product?

I purchased CinePlayer DVD Decoder Pack for Windows XP

operating system : windows xp home edition

system requirements:

•Pentium II 400 MHz Processor with MMX Extensions (Sonic CinePlayer DVD Decoder Pack for Windows XP can perform satisfactorily in a lower-speed system when the VGA adapter includes hardware video acceleration features such as motion compensation or iDCT using DirectX VA)

•Bus-Mastering DVD-ROM Drive

•32MB System RAM

•Supports a variety of VGA cards

•Playback of DVD disc-based media requires a DVD drive.

I am pretty sure i have the 32mb sytstem ra, intel pentium III processor. i don't know about the bus-mastering DVD-rom drive

so i am having a similar problem.... tonight i tried watching a dvd on my windows media player version 11 (windows xp) and got an error message that i needed a dvd decoder so after several frustrating hours i purchased:

Product SKU: ESD-CINEPLAYER2.3

Product Name: Cineplayer DVD Decoder Pack 2.3.1 - ESD

I have sinced installed this decoder pack, and now, all i get when i open the windows media player is the music and voices that go along with the dvd, but no picture.

Does anyone know how I can correct this?

Thanks,

AZ

zmoney,

You purchased Cineplayer DVD Decoder Pack 2.3.1 for windows XP.

What are you calling "winDVD player" this, http://www.corel.com/servlet/Satellite/us/...mp;tabview=tab0?

If so why did you buy DVD Decoder Pack 2.3.1, WinDVD comes with all you need too watch DVD's.
