Here's a clip from your picture, for those who can't see it.

You're using some software with MyDVD 9 in it, and MyDVD won't accept the AVI you're trying to use.

If that AVI can be played with the DivX player then it has probably been encoded with either a DivX or XviD compressor.

You haven't said what Roxio software you're using, but back around the time of Easy Media Creator 9 [EMC 9] Sonic/Roxio sold a number of software "suites" which were based on EMC 9, with a number of its abilities deliberately disabled. The ability to handle XviD/DivX video and AC3 audio were often deliberately disabled in these products. Please see This Topic for a discussion on them.

I think that the software you are using might be one of the suites which have their abilities deliberately disabled, and even if the right codecs are installed the Sonic/Roxio software will not use them. :( I would be interested to know the full name of your software suite.

If you didn't make the AVIs yourself and want to check the codec used, the GSpot Codec Information Appliance is a small, free, safe download from HERE and it will indicate what video codecs are used in the AVIs.

so do you have an solution?

Yes, update to a full version of Roxio that will accept DivX. The version you have obviously is not the full version.

Yes, DX50 is one of the 4CC codes that represent the DivX codec.

It seems your version of MyDVD 9 is one of the castrated ones, I'm sorry. There's nothing that can be done with it. You need to get software which isn't deliberately disabled.

This version of the program suite [Easy Media Creator 9] is over three years old, and is out of support [a "legacy" program] so should not be commercially available anywhere.

The current version is Creator 2010, but you should be able to buy last year's version [Creator 2009] in some shops at a huge discount.
