TV to Creator 2010

gjmagill

Question

I just bought Creator 2010 Pro yesterday to replace DVD MovieFactory. I have cable TV coming into my PC by way of a WinTV HVR and record programs with Media Centre (Windows XP). When I try to load the file into Creator, it won't come in even though it claims "all media types". Is there some way to load these files in so I can burn them onto a DVD?

If Media Center gives you dvr-ms files, that should work in Roxio. Roxio will ask to convert to an mpeg file and then you can work with it. You can also try renaming the extension to .mpg and that might work as well.

I came on this site to find out how to load my files into Creator 10. I have a new computer and new software...what could go wrong? Well, I opened Creator and had it open my Saved TV file and nothing showed up. My Win7 computer saves the tv shows in .wtv format and that's not one of the formats that Creator shows. Very frustrating!

I saw a reply to your question about changing the file name to an mpeg, so thought I'd see how I could do that. When I right-clicked on one of the saved TV shows, there was an option to convert to .dvr-ms format, which should work fine. At least it did in Creator 9, or whatever my last version was. Hopefully this will be the answer to your problem and mine!
