Create 2010 Photo edit

arcturus

Question

Installed Roxio Creator 2010 on new Sony VAIO VGN-AW310 running Vista SP1 with no errors seen during installation. I had disabled all startup prior to install so no antivirus running (or any other weird stuff). Creator 2010 main screen opens with no problems, but when goto Photo tab, then try to Edit photo, I get an hourglass for a bit and then nothing appears. I have waited 10 minutes thinking something is still loading, but no results. Tried a full clean uninstall and reinstall, but same results. Also installed Creator 2010 SP1 with same results. Any ideas?

Your PC is probably OK, but list your system specs, like I have in my sig.

Have you tried opening through the Start Menu?

Thanks for the quick response, Jim. I tried (one more time) to remove and reinstall to see if the software gods were with me this time. I decided to follow (to the letter) the removal instructions provided by Roxio. I also removed the existing .NET Framework 3.5 with SP1 and utilized the Windows Install Clean Up utility. Then I did not let autorun start the installation, but ran the setup.exe as Admininstrator (even though my account is an Administrator). Interesting that Roxio reinstalled .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 along with everything else as before. This time, the Photo edit worked along with everything else. So....for now all is well. Thanks again. I'll keep in touch with this forum as we migrate to Windows 7.

Great!!!

No puzzle there, you removed .NET 3.5 so of course it will install the portions of .NET 3.5 that it needs… Does the same in Win7 which does not have .NET 3.5.

When you migrate to Win7, the clean install for that (format) is recommended over letting it do a band-aid install over Vista. Yes it will offer to upgrade over Vista, but every OS upgrade that MS has ever made mucked it up when done that way...
