combining multiple DVDs to 1 DVD problem

WillSch27201

Question

I have multiple DVDs of 30 minute shows which I am trying to combine onto one DVD using myDVD. I can successfully do 2 shows, but when I try 3 the .iso file is 6 Gb. The quality setting is LP which says that I have 55 minutes left.

I think the quality settings and the "Fit to Disk" is ignored in myDVD 10.

I've created a number of coasters, and have been burning to .iso files. I've also tried all the different settings without success. Any suggestions would be welcome.

One standard DVD = 1 hour recording

Simple math - 1 hour = 4.3 GB, 1.5 hours is going to be more

Thanks for the math. Did you notice that I mentioned that the LP setting was being ignored as was the "fit to disk"? I have been a programmer since 1980 and system administrator (IBM AS/400 Certified) since 1998 and know how to test/debug a program.

I'm hoping that someone has tried using multiple DVDs and successfully gotten the compression to work.

In MyDVD, try using disc size of 8.5GB and High Quality setting. Then burn to an image file. Use Video Copy and Convert to burn the image file onto a standard DVD (it will try to do the compression, which results to lower quality of the video). But try it for yourself to see if you are ok with the resulting DVD.

Sounds reasonable, I'll give it a shot. Thanks.
