Subtitles

Question

I would like to encode a non-protected DVD that has forced English subtitles (i.e. only display when a character is speaking a language other than English).

How can I include the forced subtitles so the resulting file has hard subtitles (i.e. burn the forced subtitles over the video and cannot be turned on/off). This would ensure compatibility with any video player that doesn't support subtitles.

Popcorn cannot change the existing settings. The only thing I can think of is to use the application MyDVDedit to modify the IFO file so the subtitles are always on. I don't know how to do this but maybe you can figure it out. Then burn the modified VIDEO_TS folder.

If you make a copy of a DVD or VIDEO_TS folder that has subtitles they should be present on the copy. What I understood you were asking is if the subtitle default could be changed so they always appear without having to select them with the DVD player. If all you want is for the disc to be the same as the source then just make a copy without changing anything.
