Formatting DVD to play on DVD Player?

Victor K

Question

I actually have had no problem installing the Easy VHS to DVD. After I installed it I downloaded the latest service pack and it burned the VHS tape to a dvd, which I can play as an MPEG on my laptop using Windows Media Player. Again, no problems.

My question is how can I format the DVD so that it will play on my Toshiba DVD player hooked up to my TV?

I tried using the Easy VHS to DVD to store it on my laptop and it plays fine there. I then have tried to Roxio Creator to burn it to a DVD but again the output is not recognized on my Toshiba player. Is there any way to do this?

If I upgrade to Creator 2010 will this work?

Thanks for any assistance in this.

Victor

Follow cdanteek's suggestion to find out if the resultant DVD is in spec here

It says: "DVD-R, Closed, Multiborder, Data" I obviously am doing something wrong.

I also just noticed that I am using Roxio Creator LE Dell Edition (it came with the laptop, which I jsut got 6 months ago). Could this be the problem?

It's a Dell Edition of the software, I don't have a copy and can't advise in it's use, perhaps Dell?

The DVD to play in a settop DVD Player has to display the Closed DVD-Video in the pic I posted..

A DVD Author software does this, in a Retail C2010, MyDVD is the DVD Author application..

Roxio Creator LE from Dell does not include any of of the Video authoring application. You will have to consider upgrading to one of these

If you used Plug&Burn from VHS2DVD and created the DVD then there is nothing else to do. The DVD should play on your standalone DVD player unless you are using a DVD type that is not compatible with your player.

THe steps you described to create the DVD with VHS2DVD are very vague. Could you give some more accurate details?

VHS2DVD is the only program you require to do what you want. No need to use the crippled OEM Dell program.
