Roxio Creator 2010 Special Edition

GoGreen

Question

I recently opened Roxio Creator 2010 Special Edition. I have been very pleased with the program but the Roxio Video Capture USB device that was included in the package does not work. There were no instructions provided. I inserted the device into my computer and nothing happened. Roxio Creator 2010 did not respond to the device. I also received no response when the device was connected to my computer and VHS player (I have two working VHS players and it did not work on either one). Can somebody help me please?

Please have a good read in the "Easy VHS to DVD" forum HERE. Both Creator 2010 and Easy VHS to DVD use the same device, but there is a lot more written about it in that forum.

You may well find that you need to connect the device to the back connector of your computer because of the amount of current it draws. It's all covered in that forum I believe.

Additionally I did a write up on it using Creator 2009 which would be close enough to 2010 that it may be of more use than trolling through all those V2D posts

Take a look at this - USB Capture

But ignore the portion about installing drivers! 2010 does that automatically.

After following through with the instructions you provided (http://forums.support.roxio.com/index.php?showtopic=43928), I was able to locate the roxio capture on my computer but I ran into the following problems:

1. No icon appears on the main menu of Roxio Creator 2010.

2. The program recognizes the Roxio video Capture USB however I am not able to click "capture now". I do run into that no signal status which you mentioned and I am not 100% clear on what you mean by, "If you see No Signal beside Status, it is most likely you do not have the Input: set correctly. (got me first time out!)".

I also noticed when looking at the screen-shot that under video, "USB 2161 Device" is selected. On my computer, "Roxio Video Capture USB" is selected. USB 2161 Device does not appear under the drop-down arrow, however it does appear in my device manager. I wish I could provide you with screen-shots (if that would be helpful) but I am not sure how to copy and paste the images onto this discussion board.

Thanks in advance.

The pictures for that posting were taken while running Creator 2009. You are running 2010, hence some differences. In the pictures…

If you don't see the USB 2861 Device, you have not installed the device correctly!

You need to go back and look at the Driver pictures I posted. If they don't match, it isn't going to work!

I just uninstalled the video capture device and reinstalled it. I finally got the capture video icon to appear on my main menu however the device I am still not able to capture my videos. I am still not able to get "USB 2861" to appear. I checked my device manager and it is clearly there and it says that it is working. Do you have any further suggestions?

Another problem I also forgot to mention with the video capture device is that the photo tab does not appear next to the video tab (as it was shown in your screen-shot.

All of my images are exactly the same as the one's you have shown below. The only difference is the driver version of my USB 2861 Device is 6.0.6001.18000.

the last image you posted below "Your Roxio Media Import screen look like this?" is the same. However, my Record Time Left is 12:56:31 and my Space Left on Drive is 165.6GB.

I know I just posted this but I realized I clicked on reply from an earlier post. I was not sure whether or not you would get the post.
