Recording from LPs

I am trying to record LPs from an Ion USB turntable using Roxio Creator 2010. I set the Control Panel per turntable instructions. I set Roxio at the computer sound card (Sigma Tel Audio) as Capture From and tried both Microphone and Stereo Mix as input. All I get is a scratching sound, no recording of the record. Any suggestions?

Doesn't ION come with its own software?

That's two strikes against you. Update the audio chip drivers from your computer manufacturer's web site. Some people have had problems capturing audio from that turntable. We offered suggestions but no one ever came back and told us what worked.

 

What computer do you have? Desktop or Laptop? If desktop, try one of the USB ports in the back of the computer. Do not use a hub. What OS? If Vista and W7, you must enable the audio device options. Check that.
