Problem with PDF files after burn

lrowls

Recommended Posts

I've been using Roxio Easy CD Creator 5 for a few years to burn disks with our product manuals in PDF format. With the last burn I did, some of the PDF files are corrupt and can not be opened. I have older disks from previous burns with the same files and they are fine. The files I am copying from are fine.

If I open the PDF in Notepad, there is a bunch of text at the start of the file which appears to be text from the Easy CD project information (See partial sample below). This problem occurs only with certain files. I haven't made any changes to my operating system or burner. I've downloaded and installed version 5.3.5.17, but still have the same problem. Any help would be appreciated.

As a quick guess, you've actually burned the .CL5 project file to the disc, and not the .PDF file. If you look at the disc in Windows Explorer, you'd see a .CL5 file extension. If you then double clicked that to open it, it would start ECDC 5, and appear that the .PDF file was there, but all you're seeing is what should be in the project, which only points to the .PDF file, it doesn't include it.

That's the only thing I can think of at this point.

The text is actually IN the PDF file, causing Acrobat to not be able to open it. The file structure on the disk is fine and there are no files with CL5 extension. Most of the files open fine, but some are corrupt. The same files are corrupt each time I burn a disk.

Hi,

I think you can try a utility called Advanced PDF Repair to repair your PDF file. It works rather well for my corrupt PDF files. Its web address is http://www.datanumen.com/apdfr/

Hope this helps.

Alan

Thanks for trying, Alan, but the original poster hasn't been back since the day he made that last post 10 months ago so we are never going to know what caused his problem and he is never going to know about the utility you mentioned. :(

Best regards,

Brendon
