Splitting the audio from the video - help

antheat@btopenworld.

Question

:)

Apologies if this is really basic question, but here goes... I am editing my first video of wedding footage... is there a way, I can split the audio/sound from the movie, in order to turn off or down the sound in certain parts (eg if someone swears or to put alternative music on)

The music tracks seem to have these green points which you can fade in and out - can I get these for the video too???

Hope this makes some sense

Thanks

Anthea

The best way to do this would probably be to split the video on the Timeline in Videowave at each point you want to modify the music. You could then reduce the volume, or mute the volume on the portions you want to modify the sound for.

Can I fade in and out.... Only dont want to have noise, then suddenly quiet... Again does that make sense??

I think you answered it yourself already...

You can apply transitions/overlay to create the fade in and out

What flavor of V8 do you have? Essentials, Platinum or Deluxe. What you can do and how you do it varies with the product. Yes you can edit the volume of the video. What you would do is reduce the volume of the native audio track while increasing the volume of any added music.

Try this, in timeline, with the edit volume envelope checked, click on where you want the native track to start fading out. You will get a point, now click to the right to get another point. Click again where you want the sound to start fading in and again when you want the sound back at full volume. Now drag the second and third points down toward the bottom of the native audio track. Put the music you want on the music (or other track) start with the volume low. Repeat the above to create corresponding points and drag the second and third point up to the volume you want.

The native track should look like the end of this image. Of course the music track would be just the opposite.

Sounds like I started on step 2 rather than step 1- Make sure you can see the native audio track ! :)

Module Name: Roxio Creator 8 Suite Home

Version: 3.0.0

Build: 3.0.90a

This is the version I have..

But Bingo, I have just worked out how to do it - you click show/hide and show the native audio track - Fab I can do it now!!

Thanks for your help

You need to go to Creator Classic, click on Help, then click on about. That is where you will see the actual build number.
