csblue
First, my system: HP G60 laptop Pentium dual core CPU, 2.1 Ghz, 4GB ram, 64 bit system Running Windows7 Home Premium. Graphics: Mobile Intel 4 series express chipset family. I am using Creator 2010 pro. My problem: I recently recorded a two-part concert off of cable tv. It had commercials, which I wanted to edit out. I took the videos into Videowave and edited out the commercials. Then I added both videos into MYDVD and burned them to an ISO file and burned a DVD from that. The end result was that my closed captions were no longer there in the finished product. I am hearing empaired and rely on the CC. Did I do something wrong? How can I retain the closed captions and/or subtitles when editing my videos in Creator 2010 pro? Thanks, Steven
malatekid
Unless the subtitle is embedded in the video, I don't think closed caption/subtitle is retained in captured video. Was it there in Videowave before you did any editing at all?

Was it there in Videowave before you did any editing at all? I think it can be done by passing the file through VCC first??? Let me try a couple of tests and see what I get. I would like to know what csblue has recorded the programs on?

I would like to know what csblue has recorded the programs on? Hi Jim, I recorded the programs on a DVD+R on a stand alone Philips DVD recorder: DVDR3400. The captions are there when I play the DVD+R on any player, you can turn the closed captions on or off. I hope this helps. How can I tell if the captions are there in Videowave? I don't see any way to do it… VCC will copy them to another DVD but not to a file. Without being able to get them in a file you can edit, they will be lost whenever you try to edit. I did see a $1,400 program but… One simple alternative if you had it, would be Roxio's Video Capture USB device. You would have to Play the DVD or TV with CC active then capture with the device. (didn't try it but it should work) I browsed some deaf sites hoping to pickup something but most only list using a TV capture card and I was not clear if that even works in all cases??? Sorry but that is all I have for now.

Question
csblue
First, my system:
HP G60 laptop
Pentium dual core CPU, 2.1 Ghz, 4GB ram, 64 bit system
Running Windows7 Home Premium.
Graphics: Mobile Intel 4 series express chipset family.
I am using Creator 2010 pro.
My problem:
I recently recorded a two-part concert off of cable tv.
Thanks,
Steven
